    I will admit... Arrival quickly built up to very interestin an held strong... until the 4th act when it went down hill into a nuthin-burger soap opera.!!!

    Guardians Of The Galaxy 2

    The best news:::

    About half as good as the original... which still makes it watchable.!!!

    The sad news:::

    To bad stickin in Kurt Russell an Sylvester Stalone did nuthin to make Guardians Grate Agan.!!!

    Racoon an Groot stole what little ther was to steal of this half-azzed atempt at a part 2.!!!

    As for the rest of the characters... the fondness you had for 'em in the original was totally squeegeed out by the end of this whizz-bang-battles --- love-thy-enemy tear-fest.!!!

    Wonder Woman was a good film. I found the story to be a little "meh", but that's okay. I was worried that the character (whom I love) was going to be disrespected. In the end, this film was a passionate homage to Richard Donner's "Superman" (1979) and a nod to all the great comic versions of Wonder Woman over the years. It was perfection in that regard (despite having a "by the numbers" story). The greatest part of the movie was that it told a true heroes journey and self-discovery in the maelstrom of chaos. She had to grapple with her idealism being shattered, but remained true to her core passion (love and justice) and wavered for just a moment then determined to never yield. So many stories show the superhero being deconstructed (i.e. the Nolan "Batman" and the Snyder "Man of Steel"). In this, we saw an unstoppable, unmovable force of love and compassion who had to change her world view but not her core self. That was why I liked it.

    Few films I have seen recently:

    12 Years a Slave - cinematography was great.
    Free State of Jones - good film, well acted by McConaughey - and interesting story about part of the civil war you don't often hear about (if at all).
    Inferno - 3rd film about Dan Brown's academic hero after DaVinci Code and Angels & Demons. Pretty rubbish, predictable and seemed Hank was almost doing it out of obligation.
    The Martian - never read the book but the film is good... scratches all the nerd spots.

    I missed the 1st & 3rd episodes. Going by the 2nd episode only, I thought it was good & entertaining. We cannot have everything GREAT!!! Not being great does not necessarily mean bad.
    From ads, I thought it is a comedy but seems mostly serious with a bit more humor than other scifi.

    After readin you'r review i checked wikipedia an now realize that it was the 3rd episode i saw ( "About a Girl").!!!

    Early on seein Seth McFarland an the very cool exterior of the space ship i expected that it was gonna fall somwhare between Srar Trek an Space Family Robinson which gave me hope that it might be watchable... an then a joke was told... not a very funy joke... but at least i felt a bit reassured that it was suposed to be a comedy involvin those uptight no-neck lumpish unsympathetic creatures... but then it went on an on (a Fuggin houre long show) wit no more atempts at humor... an turned out to be an uninspirin drama teechin a lesson about acceptin other cultures who surgically alter the sex of ther new born babys.!!!

    It apeared that the joke was... it was suposed to be funy cause it was so horrably bad.!!!

    The best part was when it ended... an i told my wife to make a note when it woud be on agan so i coud make sure an miss it... lol.!!!

    Anyhow... i didnt see the episode you saw but it must have been at least 95 % beter than the one i saw.!!!

    Or maybe we have different tastes or sensibilities.
    I will probably watch 3 or 4 before having a good opinion. Wish I could see the same 1 you saw.

    We watched the new King Kong movie last night. It was entertaining, and it didn't try to be anything more than what it is, an action movie.

    Recently saw Gangster Squad... very loosely based on how the police took down a crime lord in Hollywoodland, c.1949-50. Not too bad at all, but more of a popcorn flick than the likes of Goodfellas or Casino etc. 7/10 'cos I wasn't in the mood for anything too deep and meaningful.

    Also saw Jack Reacher 2: Never Watch Again, or whatever it's called... It's... Ho hum. I wanted to like it and have never read the books but it's basically a rather formulaic and actually quite uninteresting film. Maybe it would appeal more to fans of the books, I don't know, but it's no more than a 6/10 from me, and that's being generous.

    And, though it shames me to admit it, I saw Legend of Hercules (3D) with Kellan Lutz. Didn't know who he was, and still don't. It's a fairly awful film from the outset. Some of the effects are okay, but if I had paid any more than the £3 for the Bluray than I did then I would have been annoyed. The acting is dire, the CGI not great, the story could have been much better, and overall just a waste of my time. Consider it my civic duty to warn you away from this rubbish.

    Mother! Was a really crappy movie. I would have fallen asleep had it not been so irritating. The movie would have been better if for no apparent reason some deranged alien monster showed up and started ripping people apart.

    But I did think it was supposed to be a horror movie beforehand. Well one that had a potential of being scary at least.

    Yeah, it's a good trailer.
    I wish I could say the same for the show. It doesn't know if it wants to be a comedy or a drama.

    I'm far from cynical; I'm usually positive about new shows, and give them every chance I can, but the plots are unoriginal, as are the characters. They're stolen from old shows and added a quick coat of paint.

    I'm getting the strong feeling this is a vanity project: MacFarlane exercising wish-fulfillment by replaying Star Trek episodes with himself as lead.

    GalaxyQuest managed to do this successfully, because it didn't shy from the fact that it was a direct parody (in fact, that was its central theme).

    I wish producers had either taken more control, to make it what it could have been, or let go Seth's reins and see what he could do.

    'it' was a tediously long movie, unless you are 10 years old and find the school pranks and psycho-babble of pre-teens interesting. it had some of that 80's retro 'stand by me', thought it looked to be set in the late 1950's. the clown was done well. the scene under the storm drain is funny at first.
