What if the Earth suddenly stop revolving around its axis?

With a mean orbital velocity of 1.022 km/s (2,290 mph), the Moon appears to move relative to the stars each hour by an amount roughly equal to its angular diameter, or by about half a degree.

Then we divide the length of a day into the distance a point on the equator travels in that period: 40,075 km/23.93 hours = 1,675 km/hour, 465 meters/second. The speed of the Earth's rotation changes as you go North or South away from the equator.May 20, 2013.

You have listed some facts about the size, mass and gravity of Earth and Moon; where do you figure rotation comes into play?

In speed of rotation and volume of mass .

Show this in your description. In what way are you suggesting rotation affects gravity?

I agree; the question is valid. It's just not clear to me why it was posed here, but neither do I need to know why it was. It was a valid question; it's been answered. That's that.

The folks that want to "follow the yellow brick road," as it were, AFAIC, should do so. I just don't care to be part of that sort of discussion with regard to this topic. That's why I wrote earlier that had I known that's where the discourse was headed, I would have kept mum. Indeed, it would even now bother me not to delete every one of my posts in this thread.

    I hope you don't , delete your posts .

Discussion is important . Without discussion there are no questions . And without questions we become , automatons .

I was certain you'd balk at explaining.

Gravity, even in sci-fi is not based on rotation. You can simulate the effects of gravity by spinning a structure and standing on the inside of the rotating structure but you are not generating gravity.. In this case, this simulated gravity acts outward from the axis of rotation.

Gravity is just a property of anything that has mass. It strength is determined by the magnitude of the mass and the distance from the center of the mass. It decreases by the square of the distance. So, for instance, the Moon has 1/81 the mass of the Earth and ~1/3.7 the radius. So standing on it's surface you feel (1/81)/(1/3.7)^2 = ~1/6 the gravity you would feel standing on the Earth. It rotation has nothing to do with this.

If the Earth stopped were not rotating it's gravity would be no different from what it is now.

Well, I can't delete them, and I get your "automaton" point. Be that as it may, I see four pages of discussion in this thread, and my contributions to those pages are not by any means critical to the discussion.

    Yes.
I just wanted to answer because I cannot ever recall a situation where river has said something that I could say yes to.

What?? What about his revelation that gravity is dependent on rotation?
Surely, you know ... the Moon.

    River:
Gravity has two models. Newtonian and GR(Einsteinian).

Which model of gravity, you are considering here?

He is referring to the duuuuhup model.

I certainly can't explain it you will have to ask him. Based on what I have seen of your TOE work you and river should get along like gang-busters.

My TOE is based on Newtonian Model.

As I recall you said there is a force that causes length contraction. That is not Newtonian. That is not GR. That is not science. That is hansda.

Your TOE is actually a TON. But if you have fun pretending it is a TOE that's fine.

It is an unknown force in Newtonian Model.

    What is TON?

You may not like my TOE. That is OK. That is your own individual judgement/choice. But based on my TOE, I have written three more papers and also developed three more unknown forces.

Seems you prefer a string solution for TOE. I believe string theorist tried for almost 100 years to find this solution. I dont know, if they have already found a solution for TOE.
