United States: What's the problem?

Here's an idea: a strong person, with a strong sense of ethical behavior, who acts to remedy the problems of constituents, who garners the trust of people, and who has the full support of the population of the free world.
Here's another: a body of lawmakers who know and understand the workings of their social systems, who minute by minute govern the institutions in those systems, who know the problems of people, and challenge those problems with innovative solutions using minimum strategically placed resources, and who have the full support of the governments of the free world.

I need dentures (an 8000 usd hit to my 6000 usd annual budget). I'm talking about teeth to eat and talk. People in El Paso and southern New Mexico need water. People in Puerto Rico need food and water. The United States: a country with some of the best schools in the world, with think tanks, with wealth beyond imagination, with a government, with an intelligent population, with scientists, and with chicken noodle soup. What the hell is the problem so great that we cannot live in a healthy, fruitful, nourishing, loving, and productive society that takes care of people (human beings and life in general) first? It's time to refocus our social systems to that end, and separate the wheat from the chaff, to rebuke the arms dealers, but provide for our defense not by bombing cities into dust, but by caring for the people in them. Today, things do not seem to be getting better, and that is something that should be self-evident.

As life in a vast universe full of vacuum and fire our primary consideration should be to cherish and protect that life. There are enemies: volcanoes, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, virus', asteroids, and especially our own ignorance. What's the problem?

None of them are lawyers. Three of them are LEOs.

Sounds like you don't have enough skill or intelligence to be a gun owner, because you don't know who your enemies are, and probably couldn't hit them if you did. Let me clue you in. Your enemies are the people who shoot at you, except when they are mentally handicapped. Lawyers don't do a lot of shooting. If the laws were sound enough (well written with moral justification) you wouldn't need so many lawyers. Lawyers do a service in trying to straighten out weak laws written by legislators with thin moral standing. A good lawyer could convict a ham sandwich. That means laws have holes, because some legislators cannot negotiate between the imposed greed of the powerful who finance them, and the greater good of their constituents. That is one of the major problems I observe. Another problem is ignorance, which is also powerful. We know the solution: education. These are examples for you to ponder before trashing my question again.

My opinion is that the problem is a lack of statesmanship and intelligence. Identify the problems. Propose solutions. Pick the best solutions. Implement the solutions. People know how to solve problems. The problem seems to be in identifying the problems, and picking the best solutions. In a social system that involves intelligence, and statesmanship. I think. It's at the heart of it. There should be no problem in moving wealth, fixing infrastructure, and making sure people are taken care of by the institutions that have those roles. Here's another example: Maybe the company that dumps poisonous substances into fresh water sources should lose its wealth to the hospital that is trying to repair the affected life. There seems to be a lot of hesitancy in making and enforcing those kinds of decisions. That's a problem.

How the fuck do you know anything about me? I'm a retired Chief Petty Officer. And a quote from Lenin seems to have swooshed your junior high education.

Maybe I should have quoted this one: "We're not shooting enough lawyers."
Understanding that requires no education. It is advocacy of using deadly force against a general (professional) population. Simple, and wrong.

Sounds like you don't have the educational background to understand a paraphrased quote from Shakespeare.

I've been an owner and shooter since 1965. I swung twin .50s on river boats for just over two years. I still own a fully functional and legal Ma Deuce.

Does that make your quote right or intelligent? Neither. Is your answer to my question to dissolve the legal profession, get rid of the laws that bind our society, or for the sake of people reading this, do you have any other comment related to the initial question? This post: Don't scare people with your big guns. We already have an arms-dealer-in-chief. Tactically, you should keep them hidden and unknown from the general public. Enjoy life, and help other to do the same.

Why do you think Jesus gave us faith? We need to overcome and survive.

Then stop voting for right wing Republicans who care naught about minor things like healthcare.

People in the US prefer to vote against things like that. In other words, Republicans declare that healthcare, things like false teeth that would allow you to eat and talk, are deemed a privilege and not a right.

Again, these things are not deemed a 'right' in the US political landscape.

Because these things are not deemed a right in the US by a large portion of your population.

In other words, people are selfish. So things like universal healthcare, access to fresh and healthy foods, clean water, safe housing and shelter, are not deemed a right. In a normal society, everyone contributes to ensure coverage for things like healthcare and welfare for those who are poor or living in poverty. But the right wing politics that govern your country's politics have stymied any piece of legislation to make life easier for people who are poor or living in poverty or not earning over a certain amount of money per year. And any talk of distribution of wealth, say through having the wealthy pay more tax, is poo poo'ed on, by the wealthy who make those decisions.

To wit, what is happening in the US and elsewhere around the world, is because people vote in these buffoons.

Well to do that, you will need to elect people who care about these things.

To quote my 12 year old.. 'It's because people are simply stupid'.

It's actually "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers".

And it is Shakespeare, not Lenin, I believe. Henry IV? Been a while.

Today I learned the term Banana Republic. I have had some shocking experiences in countries that could be described with those attributes. America seem to be somewhere between an oligarchy, and a plutocracy, but it sure is inching toward a Banana Republic. I don't even want to think about the direction this society is taking if there is one. I see the universe through the Very Large Telescope (ESO), and wonder why life here is so back-asswards in it's thinking. The child is right. Ignorance is our most powerful enemy.

I suppose my question is, who should pay for those rights? The US is twenty Trillion dollars in debt. How are we going to finance free healthcare, housing, and nutrition?
