They were much maligned in a deliberate propaganda campaign. There were lots of ambitious groups that fed the needy, protested the war, got involved in local politics, and made a difference.

They get tax credits, but balance sheet shows they don't owe taxes (because business didn't do so hot that quarter), so they sell their tax credits to other companies. Kraft 'acquired' USD 4M That could make taxes for people a whole new ballgame, but who would pay for American infrastructure (not Apple and Kraft). The United States has tons of social problems. I'm glad that I'm not American in this regard. First of all the American government is quite oppressive and there are tons of Americans in jail. In America compared to other countries even the smallest crime will land you straight in jail. Also American jails are highly overcrowded because there are tons of Americans incarcerated especially in California. Also in United States if you are born poor then you most likely will die poor. Also income inequality is very huge in the United States compared to other countries. Some rich Americans own half the planet while other Americans have almost nothing or are incarcerated in jail. So like I said I'm glad that I don't live in the United States because then I would have been homeless, very poor or in jail.
