The phrase "how to" suggests a goal which we're trying to achieve. We can not change our genes, so they can't figure significantly in our plan to become happy.

This reminds me of one sure-fire way to be rich:

    Choose your parents wisely.

To be rich is no absolute avenue to happyness.

My first wife's father was worth north of 10 million dollars-----didn't make him nor her happy.

    Exactly my pont.
Just as surrounding oneself with happy things and "having good genes", is no sure avenue to happiness.

I haven't done crack or meth, so I don't know how it feels. This is probably rather pathetic sounding, but some people I've interacted with I thought wanted to be social and be my friend. Then found out later they were buzzed on stuff like that and now I can't tell if they truly wanted to be my friend.

I certainly would also be questioning the credibility of people like that on crap like that.

I think generally un happiness happens when you get too caught up in your thoughts. You can check yourself when you're feeling unhappy by asking yourself and looking around if there's anything in the present moment that should be causing you to be unhappy. There usually isn't. It's usually just indulging in thoughts of the past or worrying about the future that causes is is to be unhappy.

    thats a good question.
while pondering that, think about this as a question.
If your partner says they are getting bored & wish to do something different, does that mean you are boring ?
while you are having a think about that and comparing the 2.
ask yourself if you can define the difference between a healthy question & a Unhealthy question.
is there such a thing as a healthy or unhealthy question to yourself by yourself ?

let me know what you think, after you have given it some thought.
