There is the strong implication of 1 tunnel.

    <>

Now I realize 1 way tunnel implies traffic goes thru each tunnel only 1 way so that might indicate 2 tunnels. They should have said 1 track tunnel.
The seemingly simple ones can be complicated when not worded well enough.
I will have to give it to you but there is an answer which applies to 1 tunnel.

Yes. Sometimes they do not think them thru well enough.
Unfortunately, sometimes I do not realize that until after posting. See previous post.

    He didn't.
It's an apocryphal tale seemingly made up by a biographer called Weems, a Parson who wanted to extol the virtues of Washington.
But that's probably not the answer to the riddle.

    here is one for the mensa mind;

Imagine that these six words have been written on a chalkboard: cat, dog, has, max, dim, tag.

Three students—Albert, Bernard, and Cheryl—receive a piece of paper with a different letter written on it.

Each letter is included in the secret word, which is one of the words on the board.

The students need to determine, using logic, what the secret word is.

Their teacher asks Albert if he knows the secret word. After looking at his letter, Albert says yes. Bernard takes a moment to think, and then says yes, he also knows the secret word. Cheryl is the last to say yes. Which one is the secret word?

    Anyone care to try?

    Spoiler:
The secret word is [ has]

Took about two minutes. And no, I did not cheat.
I can provide the logic if necessary.

Sorry, although the correct answer has been disputed by others also.
Hint; The order of answers given by the students is part of the solution.

Interestingly its a science in lexicology developed by the NSA. It's called "large number of rare event distribution"
