Back in '67 it was. So fifty years ago now; that qualifies as history, I guess. So why did Billie Joe McAllister jump off the Tallahatchie Bridge? Us old-timers have never forgotten, but I guess it doesn't mean much to folk under about sixty. We talked about it endlessly back in those times but could never really figure what had happened. Never got to the bottom of the thing, though a few had strong opinions one way or another. Some thought he was pushed. Some reckoned he was being blackmailed. And what was it that he and his girlfriend had thrown off the bridge? Perhaps modern forensic methods could help, even though the old bridge has been replaced.

I think it is overdue that the CCCCT reviewed the evidence. But maybe you have your own ideas about it all. Let me have your thoughts!

One of the largest circulated books contains fiction but that does not stop endless speculation upon the main character.

She thru his guitar in the river and he went in after it...which is sad because he could neither play the guitar or swim.

I bet you don't like my other great all time favourite either: the Sweethearts of the Rodeo version of Jenny Dreamed of Trains.
Nobody knew how she made it come true,
    but Jenny dreamed of trains.

Now there is another mystery that deserves an answer!

I liked it at the time. Of course I was only 9 years old when it came out.

McArthur Park - now there's a bad song!

    It has commendable originality.
Are you sure it's not just soggy cake you don't like?
