Good is an actual quality like water that we need to "drink"

Sailing is of the nature if something can go wrong it will especially when something else is going wrong.

    Have you tried marijuana?
It cures many ills and pains, and is NOT addictive. In fact it has been suggested that it may be helpful in treating opioid addiction.

Indeed. A 26' shallow-keeled lake boat is currently my best form of therapy.

At least, during the 6 months that the lake isn't cold and bumpy...

My kids offered me that option once.
I considered it, but decided that adding more mind-altering drugs to my system might not be the wisest strategy.

Today there are many strains especially bred for low THC but high in other beneficial cannabinoids such as CBD, which as I understand it is legal in all states.
    You may want to check this out on Wiki;
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabidiol

And in Holland it is regularly prescribed for treatment of depression and pain from arthritis, especially in the elderly!

You could try it as I am sure as Write4u says its not addictive but the problem may be getting naturally grown stuff..bush weed as the folk up here call it.
I am sure those who use it enjoy getting high but over the years I have seen different folk seemingly benefit simply from the fact that their sleep improves because their pain or anguish becomes less.
But I would be only inclined to use it if it came from my garden to avoid presumably to hotted up stuff the kids demand. That could be a problem as it is usually a banned substance. I have seen folk who have one little plant and use it sparingly.
Also from what I can determine they are better with than without.
But you would need to cut the current stuff and start again..

Have you thought of reducing the dosage over time...slowly. I wouldn't recommend marijuana as a substitute.

Aside from the incorrect classification of marijuana as a class I drug (lumped in with herion, morphine and other opioids ) and the fact it is still illegal by Federal law, what objections do you have to the medical (or even the recreational) use of marijuana?

Are you also opposed the much more danerous and addictive drugs alcohol and nicotine?

    OTOH
    http://www.kob.com/health-news/unm-study-medicial-marijuana-opioid-alternative/4683329/

p.s. Marijuana is NOT an opioid, it is a cannabinoid chemical......big difference.
p.p.s. There is not a single recorded death from a marijuana overdose.

I think it is poison. It clouds the mind, which is why people use it. Overall, I think it is harmless when compared to nicotine and alcohol.

Ok, I can accept the preference of natural clarity .
But did you know that Carl Sagan occasionally used marijuana, especially when he was pondering some scientific problem? He used to write equations on the shower wall, lest he forget the thought. This was told by Sagan's wife herself.

This may be the only detrimental side-effect of marijuana use (if you want to cal it that). The THC allows the brain to become more active and ideas pour in from other neural centers of the brain. Later, these artificially stimulated thoughts may be forgotten and sometimes results in short memory recall, but no harm is done to the regular normal function of the brain, it is just restored to its original state of function.

I don't recall much more than a stupor while high on marijuana. If Carl could formulate equations while stoned, then good for him. What I recall was sitting with my friends, eating potato chips and drinking beer.

What about Industrial Hemp, which also an illegal crop in the US?
    and
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemp

In fact it is one of the most eco-friendly crops on earth. If you study the history and the uses and benefits of Hemp, you will realize that our current drug problems do not stem from the use of marijuana in any of its forms.

In fact it would save the worlds forests and assist in climate control. 1 acre of hemp can produce as much raw fiber as 20 acres of trees, due to its fast growing properties in almost any climate or soil. It is actually a natural evolutionary gift, which we mindlessly ignore.

George Washington and Thomas Jefferson both had Hemp farms and the first draft of the US constitution is written on hemp paper. I see an implicit irony in these facts.

BMW (car manufacturer) uses hemp panels for the interior of some of their models.

I don't have a problem with legalized marijuana, but I do think it can serve as a gateway drug. I know it was for me when I was a teen.

Who sold you the weed and who introduced you to spiking it, for just a couple of dollars more?
A doctor or a dealer? Ironically doctors are now the legal dealers in opioids, but cannot prescribe marijuana. This I find most disturbing.

Whoever had weed for sell. Now I can go to a head shop (Oregon) and buy it legally. The point is that most people won't be writing works of genius while high. More than likely they are trying to escape their life through drug use. They poison the mind to escape the mind.

Here is the result of opioid addiction.
    https://www.statnews.com/2017/05/04/opioid-gray-death-overdoses/

Opioids are the gateway drugs to these little treats.

Is an occasional glass of wine a gateway drug to Absinthe?

I never tried opioids other than for pain relief after having a tooth pulled. However, smoking marijuana gave me the courage to try other drugs. I'm just fortunate that I was smart enough to stay clear of addictive substances. Tobacco is my one failure that hangs on to this day.
