Good is an actual quality like water that we need to "drink"

    lol...must have been 'srooms.

Which argues against the rumor of marijuana as a gateway drug. You just have an adventurous mind.

I tried a small dose of LSD once and went to see a movie. In a particular scene, I burst out in an uncontrolled howl of sadness, it was embarrassing. Never had any desire to repeat the experience.

I like to be in control of my mind. I hate beer, unless it is mixed with V8 juice and then only on a hot summer day, but I once or twice a year I'll have a glass of wine with dinner . A social gesture to my guests.

It seems odd that we should need a substance to feel better.

I am fortunate to feel generally great even though I am getting older.

But I have friends who literally suffer chronic pain from rheumatoid arthritis and the resulting depression that comes with it. So they tend to eat sweets, which is not doing them any good either.

Yep. It's called tapering. Tried it, several times - over months. Very bad.

Sounds much like my addiction to tobacco, I want to quit, but I can't get that monkey off my back. It does look like I will be quitting in the near future though.

Why? Continuous happiness is an unnatural state.

That might be true, but is there value in sadness, too. Why do people listen to Blues music?

To recount their past emotional trauma .

No problem , sort of ; but it can lead one to being " stuck " in the past .

Possibly, but is there gratification in the feelings it provokes?

reincarnation. Yes, that can be a problem, reliving past pain.

I thought so too before seeing it. It transcends 'just' a cartoon.

I have, now had, the same problem. Not seeing post numbers when I use phone in normal portrait mode

Turn it to landscape and they show

    You don't

If you try something and it does make you feel better that is NO indication of a NEED

You may reflect on the feel better and turn it into a WANT

Taking a drug is more than a passing fancy. It's an attempt to alter the mind with a foreign substance, Though I wouldn't equate marijuana with heroin, the purpose is the same.
