Not coincidence. Just a fantasy story that somebody made up.

equally, i don't understand why you think this is magical thinking. so much of science is based on theory and not completely concrete. it is not that far-fetched an idea of any stretch of the imagination that there are things reflected in mirrors we can't see, literally too. we have limited vision for one and we see in only a certain light spectrum.

Because 'we can't prove it's not true, therefore it might be true' is not a productive way to make sense of the world.

There are an infinite number of things that might be true, from unicorns to a guy in a red suit that lives at the North Pole.

We don't have infinite time to figure out our world, so the productive thing to do is to separate the things that "we can't prove aren't true", from the things that are not only likely to be true - but are therefore likely to lead to even more truths.

This is not to say that some people shouldn't spend time exploring mirror worlds, and ghosts and UFOs, but that those things are not for scientists to explore, they're for anti-scientists to explore.

that's not likely to be true, parallel dimensions, universes and other lifeforms that exist in them is more likely to be true.

i don't think that's true. it's about priority and those things are not high on their list to investigate and they don't have the tools.

i have seen and experienced things i can't explain, even had glimpses of a future which happened years later in exacting detail that is impossible to do unless the future already is either in place or has occurred already in some other dimension in order to see it, so, the paranormal is not just a random interest i picked up.

i don't have these unusual occurrences/premonitions/visions/dreams etc happen anymore but that's because it's almost all over and what was going to happen and for whatever reason, already happened. i did have an innate sense that i was a pawn/victim used unfairly in this whole scenario that was going to play out, like this was a machination/plan from the very beginning.

the worst part of it was i knew there was nothing i could do to change it because i would have no way of knowing beforehand what actions would lead to what outcomes in this case besides just the situation itself was disempowering in so many ways. all i can figure is my subconscious showed me these things to at least let my conscious know that i was being manipulated or for me to consciously shore up my strength for the hardships ahead. either way.

And how do you determine likely from unlikely?

Strange that you would find unicorns unlikely. There is nothing extraordinary about horses; they already exist. Some having a horn is a tiny addition. Compare with the addition of an entire universe.

Precisely. Of the infinite things in the universe that might be true, science is interested in the ones that are likely to be true.

    Why not?

OK, but there's nothing there for science to work with. So why complain that it doesn't? Why not take this up on a paranormal discussion forum?

in the entire universe, possibly, here no. have you heard of any anecdotal unicorn sightings? i bet you haven't. you probably haven't had significant paranormal experiences so it all seems as equal to sasquatch, the easter bunny and unicorns. i would probably think the same if i hadn't experienced it myself.

because it's the very fringe of reality. you only get peeks.

when did i complain? and then why does the fringe exist on this forum? if you don't like it, take it up with the moderators. oh yeah, that's right, you have already.

i have taken it up with a paranonormal forum, they don't know anymore either.

okay, if we were to take her account seriously with the assumption that she was not lying or imagined this, how could this be explained logically and justly?

first, it may be that it was her own brain (image from optics sent to brain) that was not processing the info normally as in their was glitch/hiccup. unlikely but i suppose it can happen very rarely, provided there is nothing actually physically wrong with her brain such as a tumor etc.

the second, is that something is going on with the mirror (a lower quality mirror so refraction and diffusion is affected) or the photons were slower than average that day? lol.

third, she did say that they were upset with eachother, perhaps it was a paranormal entity causing problems between them. for some reason, there has been a general consensus that more paranormal experiences occur and reported under negative conditions than positive ones, though there is a gradient of that from mild to extreme.

Why single them out over the guy in a red suit at the North Pole or unicorns

So true. Infrared is reflected from mirrors. I cannot see it. I can feel its warmth. And I bet if I brought a whole lot of sophisticated detection equipment I could detect a lot of stuff I could not see. It's a shame I have not got any equipment sophisticated enough to pick up reflections which do not exist

you don't have the remotest hint that paranormal phenomena can be real. that is why you equate it no different than the tooth fairy.

Numerous times in several threads you have mentioned that fringe topics are trampled by excessively analytical critiques, and that you'd like to see many topics given more leeway.

I haven't complained or taken it up with anyone.
I started a thread asking for clarification on a point of ambiguity in the forum mission.
Subsequently, a poll was called, asking for input. I contributed. That's not complaining.
And my answer was actually neutral, favoring neither side.

    It doesn't work that way.

What makes you so sure they are different?*

*OK, I get it, you have had your own anecdotal experiences that have convinced you, and we can respect that.

But you can't expect us to take your individual subjective experiences as strong evidence of objective phenomena.

Having your own personal experiences doesn't make you an authority on objective phenomena, such that you have a better "hint" than, say, Michael, about the nature of the world.

Isn't every experience a subjective experience? Reality itself is a subjective experience. Subjective doesn't just mean questionable. It's how things impact you and matter to you.

Yes. Which is why individual anecdotes, while intriguing, can't ultimately led to an objective recognition of a phenomenon.
It still needs a mechanism and model that explain these things, and then we have to go out and test the model to see of it falsifiable.
Ghosts and alt-universes are not currently falsifiable.

Right. Which places it outside science.
