^^^ If the date changed at noon, each day would be from noon to noon rather than midnight to midnight. We would yet be dealing with whole 24 hour days. <>
Yeah, but half the days' business would be conducted on the 23rd and half on the 24th. You'd constantly need to check the time as well as the date for transactions that need attention.
Not if we followed the Egyption system In ancient Egypt, the day was reckoned from sunrise to sunrise https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day I thought it occurred in England but can't find reference Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
^^^ No. The 23rd would be from noon to noon then the 24th would be from noon to noon. Business of the 23rd would be conducted on the 23rd & business of the 24th would be conducted on the 24th. Every thing would be exactly as simple or complicated as it is now. Try to think before you react. <>
The issue is that, if the business day changes at midnight, most companies will have a very large, obvious break of many hours between "business days" to wind down and wind up. If the business day changes at noon, right in the middle of the busy time of almost all businesses, there's no gap to accomplish the tasks of changeover from one day to the next. (And there re a lot of tasks.) In fact, many tasks will be pushed off until the crowds settle down - i.e. evening. And that means, for most of the afternoon, the state of the business will be in flux. (Bank roll deposits will wait until someone can run to the bank, etc.) During the largest number of transactions of the day, even the simplest transactions (such as buying a stick of gum) will start on one day but finish on the next. Not only is that a real pain in effort, but it leads to a high risk of error.
Circa 100 Posts ago, I remarked that it was incredible for this Thread to have so many Post. At 357 it seems insane rather than incredible.
