    "People also ask

Can a person who is brain dead recovery?

Mechanical support (a breathing machine) keeps oxygen going to the organs until they can be recovered for transplant. The machine is not keeping the patient alive (brain death is irreversible and is legally and medically recognized as death), it is merely keeping the organs viable until they can be recovered."

Are, or should it be lawful to give less rights to a person who has some brain eating disease? Could there be stages?

    :EDIT:

Oh yeah, the horrible thing that feasts on your soul!

You have asked several not-mutually exclusive questions.

Even when you are dead, you are still human.
What legal rights you might have are dependent on your life versus death, not on your being human.

What specific question did you want addressed?

If you are quantified by your brain cells and you have the neocortex the size of a dog, is killing you murder or cruelty to animals, so to say?

    :EDIT:

Oh, and as to the amoeba, the brain cells are a quantification of who you are or as a person and "watching" something slowly eating YOU and living it its feaces that was YOU! That'd make a cool horror flick and I'm stoned right now.

Comparing Human neocortex to a dog neocortex is non-sense .

You are human, but brain dead. That does not make you an animal.
Murder is a separate issue, defined by laws and the mores of society.
If we decide that stopping life support on a vegetative human is not murder, then not murder it is.

You would be arrested for murder.

The victims of the holocaust who were found still alive were described as being in a half human state.

Amazingly it was also said that in a few weeks they seemed to get back to their old selves .

This looks like an interesting film(but I haven't seen it except for excerpts)

Are you this patient's doctor? No?
    Then yes, it would be.
(Note: you did say 'person'. There's a hint.)

Has there been an instance where laws are specifically rewritten that affect crime and punishment, or whatever in a case?

The doctor of this patient, and its parents, are the only ones who get to make that decision. Yes, it is law.

No. Parents and doctors have always been responsible for the health and welfare of infants. They make decisions because infants can't.
