    Some questions to ask:
    1. How long will be the wall at the border? How many km?
    2. How thick and how tall is the wall? Is it a concrete wall or steel structure?
    3. How much will it cost? Who will pay for it?

I would prefer talking about building a bridge to Hawaii. We have a use for one of them, and it would be more fun to have accomplished.

    About 3200 km.

Who knows? Probably concrete reinforced with steel.

$21 billion, according to a Homeland Security Department report.

This doesn't include the salaries of any guards who might be stationed to watch over the wall.
    ---

It would take about 10 years to build, based on the most economical construction, and a height of 40 feet.

The same amount of money could alternatively be used to:
    • provide 7 billion meals to the homeless
    • provide 437 thousand people with clean drinking water
    • treat 60,000 HIV patients
    • pay the college fees of 2 million students
    • insure 56 million people in the US
    • plant 206 million trees
    • buy 78 million Chomebooks for schools
    • provide 14500 new hospital beds in the US (or 729,000 in India)
    • fund 8 new Mars rover missions

What's the current fastest time for getting over that design of wall? I'll bet it can be done in under a minute.

If it's supposed to stop drug smuggling it's going to have to be more serious than that, of course.

Is Trump serious to build it?
    Where to get the money?

Does he want to do something like Great Wall of China?
So that he is famous forever?
    And call it Trump's Wall?

Military special forces based in Florida and US Customs and Border Protection special units spent three weeks trying to breach and scale the eight models in San Diego, using jackhammers, saws, torches and other tools and climbing devices, said an official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the information was not authorized for public release.

Well, the easiest way to solve the issue is to make America a less desirable place to live than where people are supposedly "pouring in" from.

So far, I think Trump and the GOP have done a smashing job on that front. Tourism is down, the US is getting left out of multi-national trade discussions, and I have a feeling that soon we will start seeing our social safety nets slashed to "balance the budget" thanks to the latest Tax Scam... and quite possibly cuts to STEM programs as well.

Yeah, if this keeps up, we will need that wall... to keep citizens from fleeing.

Hopefully, after this year's election, the wall will become a dead issue.

Someone does. The wall won't stop it. They have submarines and airplanes.

Reading those, they tested the ability of one person to scale the wall unassisted, with no advance site preparation. And even then, anything under 20 feet was scalable.
    Uh, guys - - - -

Fair enough I was commenting on the available news I had

I thought the wall was going to be 40 foot and have electronic monitoring which I presume would negate a sustained attack required to scale

But since you have corrected my previous assumptions I'm not comfortable about being correct here

Any specs on the wall in Israel and its effectiveness?

It's mostly a fence, but a serious one:
    Wiki tells us:
This is a military barrier, patrolled by armed soldiers who will shoot to kill (that's what the "exclusion zone" is about).

Sounds impressive but I guess the American wall will be higher and more civilian than military, to use some sort of comparison

I'm thinking they could bring it together and include the Reagan administration's SDI tech, with fighting mirrors and nuclear powered space lasers and Brilliant Pebbles in constant orbit overhead.

    You might have something there

Parabolic mirrors on top of the wall sweeping back and forth with death ray beams making the dessert even hotter burning up a section of dessert out about 100 foot out from the wall
