    You really deny utility?

When I look up at the sky at night time, I'm in Australia, Southern hemisphere and see the Milky Way. I can say, the Milky Way is up there, and point to it, if people ask.

If they ask me during the day I don't point towards the ground and tell them it's under our feet but come back tonight and it will be up there pointing to a patch of day sky where clearly is not

I could just as easily say it is to the left or right of Earth

Traditionally the idea of up down left right are used in a very localised manner

If the space station began to tumble and rotate it would be useless to ask someone in the space station what do you see out of the top window, it (top), being a utility or not

And if you check back you might refresh your memory as I did state

Space does not have a up / down / left / right fixed orientation

Up / down / left / right are concepts / ideas with no underlying physical existence hence they do not exist in the real Universe

In space which way would you consider Earth to be orientatated? In space

    Farmer's Insurance:

    Seen it. Covered it.

We know a thing or two, because we've seen a thing or two.

Up, down, left and right, directions, vectors and whatnot are defined in terms of a reference frame, an implicit set of coordinates. Here on Earth, the surface of the planet itself wherever we happen to be typically provides our local spatial frame. We define whether or not something is moving and what direction it's moving in, in terms of that frame. (We can define how fast it's going if we introduce a clock.)

We ignore the fact that the Earth is a sphere, that it's rotating, orbiting the Sun and the galaxy... Reference frames are a very big deal in physics generally and in relativity theory particularly.

I've never understood how Australians can live on the bottom (butt-end) of the Earth hanging from their toes like bats (if they ever relaxed their grip, they would fall into the sky!) or how the beer they constantly drink keeps from going up their noses. (I'd get drunk too if I had to live like that.)

In space, when the Earth and its local terrestrial reference frames are gone, we would have to define a new frame. Typically that would be in terms of the 'fixed' stars. That's known as the sidereal frame.

At least I hope the blackness of space will disperse part of the Didn't Go to the Moon stupidity

The part which says the moon photos don't show stars
