Perhaps, perhaps not. I was giving her the benefit of the doubt. .......................................
It was a mistake for Saddam to think that Saudi would accept the fait accompli, meaning the US would be in the game HYAKU.
So Saddam made the mistake. Next question: did Glaspie know she was setting him up? Because one way to "win" a war is to get it the other guy to start it - on your terms.
No clue. I was failing German and Math for Mathnogstics at the time. "on my terms"? On my terms both sides would win a war by not fighting it.
Both want peace on their terms Who blinks first in war looses Negotiation then favours the non blinker Non blinker has the "Give me what I want or we go back to war" card Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Really hard to say By and large: Historians do not mention battles that did not happen. ................................. anecdote: sarg to grunt: "Why in hell are you looking at the ground? Look for charlie in the treeline!" grunt to sarg: "Sarg, I can't see charlie if he's hiding in the trees." sarg to grunt: "Charlie don't know that!"
I agree with cosmictraveller. Never enter a fight you cannot win. Also, never strike first. This is the rule of engagement (as seen in Top Gun.) "Do not fire until fired upon." We'd have peace on Earth if everyone followed this rule. Anything else is self-defence. ☺
