Probably this should be merged or should have been included with did jc exist

For god there are numerous renditions, none of which I suspect, people take as being true. More a knock off from - we were made in his image - feed back

But what about jc? Are his images based on any descriptions? Or are they are generic interpretation of what would be known about the general population of the time

Little specific - was he tall / short? large nose / small nose? colour of eyes? voice loud booming / soft squeaky?

Surely some of those details would have been recorded somewhere, even if not all in the one place

As a side line the numerous bits of saints scattered around. Have any been forensically examined, since some churches claim bits from the same saint, to check the bits do come from the same body?

i think he would have looked like a tall midle-eastern male who had been on a weekend long bender.
probably had a melodic voice which people enjoyed listening to which would give rise to him attracting a crowd easily.
by common standards of the time he was also probably quite good looking.
probably quite sexually attractive to other men which would have gathered quite a crowd.
women would have been attracted to his nice melodic low toned voice while men swooned around him.

had he not attracted lots of female fans and been sexually attractive to men, they would not espouse his morals.

his skin tone was probably golden brown(cose to idealised medium dark brown for a light skinned middle eastern.)

I think popular renditions paint him as a white European. My guess is that he was dark as night.

Is it true that vinegar cures athletes foot?

Vinegar is mainly acidic acid. Acidic acid will denature the, generally fungal, infection known as athletes foot

Soaking the whole foot for around 10 minutes in a foot bath of vinegar followed by gentle de sloughing will cure mild cases

Smart idea to follow with a soothing moisturizing lotion

If you're the pope you get to do that once a year for your mates. You pick the ones who look like jc.

There is one very famous image, which has been highly influential, namely the Turin Shroud. But that is thought to be a work of art too, like the rest of them.

Yes I hadn't thought of that medieval hoax.

That certainly would be definitive had it been real

    Cheers

I am not aware that there is evidence of it being specifically a hoax. It seems inauthentic, from the dating of the fabric. However that on its own does not seem to me to allow one to conclude it is necessarily a hoax. I called it a work of art and I prefer to stick to that, pending a resolution of the conflicting evidence about it.

i do not understand the attraction between European alt-right-Nationalism & Christianity.
i would think they would be more attracted to Norse Mythology.

I wonder if Jesus wore a Cape

Possibly some do. I don't know much about it. I consider myself a Nationalist, but not a white supremacist or particularly a Christian. Our culture is a melting pot that has been dominated by Christianity, so yeah, there's going to be some overlap.

I think we're in the middle of a national identity crisis, Nationalism and Christianity serve as identity markers for many.

The USA ? or you mean Globally, or Western world, or Europe ? or European ?
a national identity crisis certainly fits with the dissafected male who has matured through the aging Metro-sexual period of the emancipation of women.
The comparative nature of false accomplishment that matches Ego as a comparative interpersonal metaphor tends to need to beat women to feel equal.

The USA more specifically. I've heard that some Europeans feel their culture is being threatened by the influx of refugees, but much of that is flavored by the media I consume on YouTube.

I think it's much larger than that. It's seems more a rebellion against the ongoing changes taking place in our cultural environment. What was once stable is now unstable. People are trying to hold on to those things that were once secure, while others are trying to tear it apart. It's much more expansive than that, of course; but that might be the best way to sum it up. There is truly a culture war taking place.

Sociology is an ongoing interest for me, but I'm not an expert, so I can't define all that is taking place.

I think the best way to put it into perspective is to consider how the "Left" reacts to Trump. He represents everything they reject. He and the Republicans are a threat to the values of the "Left." I think you can see how this might play out for those on the opposite side of the spectrum.

National identity wrapped in cultural identity... in a war against Globalisation...
yes that has been on going for some time.

the process of equal rights which is gaining momentum is adding fuel to the fire as Cultural, Gender & National identity issues become more highlighted as being out of sync with Globalisation.

people do not realise they are trying to hold on to something they are signing away to,
    every time they 'click'
    "Agree to Terms & Conditions"

so it fosters resentment in the subconscious which drives radical extremist behaviours which seperate action from informed awareness in the mind.

That resentment needs an outlet in some form, and most noise is usually created by those who wish to hurt others when they feel hurt.

any Religion or ideology that has existing members gains extra credit by having existing power.
Christianity or political left-right-ism is no different to the ID https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Id,_ego_and_super-ego

Watch cartoon video The Incredibles for good reasons why capes are not a good idea

Although the reasons are more relevant to modern times

Equality of rights might not be so much the fight as is the myth of equality of outcome. The individual should be free to explore his/her innate abilities, but no one can guarantee their success. I can give you the right to vote, but I can't promise your candidate will win.

On a global scale, I see no cohesion other than mutual respect for the others right to have their own distinct character.

To some extent, I think it does. Good observation

That might be true to some degree. I think it's more defensive in nature.

Agreed. Thanks for the link, but I've done my reading. Simply identifying as one or the other doesn't quite fill in the blanks, does it? We need establish some ideas that we can associate with one or the other, right?

Interesting statement. Not certain where to go with this one.
