That's actually a good example. One I've asked others about. While I personally feel safer wearing a seat belt, the only public safety reason I have heard that makes sense to me is - IF your car is hit and you are not wearing a seatbelt, THEN you are more susceptible to being thrown out of your seat (or otherwise injured) causing you to lose control of your vehicle, making you a danger to others.
Huh? Am I missing something? How does legalizing cannabis have any effect on opioid, nicotine and alcohol problems?
As did I. This is an example of how requiring you to wear a seatbelt could be an example of not just protecting you from yourself, but protecting others from your bad choice. (Not you personally, the generic "you".)
Well played, sir. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Now I have to ask myself what the difference is between the gubment protecting me by not letting me fly through the windshield, and the gubment protecting me by not letting me do dangerous drugs. I guess, for one, seatbelts are not transferable, whereas drugs are. I can harm other people by my possession of drugs.
The literature seems to be a cloak for the common uses (social, medical in humans). There are lots of other biological uses, such as doping racing animals, but that does not address the subject. The discussion was to ask if cocaine could be further processed into anything useful, such as a chemical used in making seat belts. Is cocaine radioactive? I'm wondering if it could be used as a frequency translator in electronic signal processing similar to doping agents used in microchips. The major components are carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen. I supposed that's why it's characterized as most useful in biochemicals. For sure, the illicit drug should be reprocessed and redirected toward the global medicinal need for it primarily in hospitals. It looks like it might be useful in waste treatment as a reagent for hard to kill microorganisms and viruses.
Well I think the ingredients that actually make cocaine make it unpallatable for medicinal use. After all, it's not simply made of cocoa leaves. There's also other harmful ingredients such as concrete and petroleum added, which make it especially detrimental for human consumption. If the question was whether or not you could use cocoa leaves for medicinal benefits, well, that's a different question. But cocaine in its current form? I can't see it providing much benefit.
Cocaine does have some legitimate medical uses. Of course, they don't buy it off the street, but it's made in a lab.
Not cocoa, coca. Cocoa is what we get chocolate from. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theobroma_cacao Coca is quite different. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coca There does not seem to be much medical use of cocaine nowadays but from what I read it has some uses as a local anaesthetic applied to the skin.
That's, well could be, what I wanted to say. But that would be about Sigmund Freud, and hence, could be tangential. (He was a neurologist. There was know real psychology discipline to study before him.)
Freud may have been one of the first physicians to endorse/realize cocaine could be used as an anesthetic. ... We don't know whether, Freud, had a problem with cocaine and an opioid like that makes sex all the more pleasurable which would cause one (me) to wonder if that could have affected his brilliance and insights into the human psyche. See! I said tangential.
And I take it this has happened in the states where legalisation has taken place? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
It also helped myself (as a ambulance driver and registered nurse) and other health workers from scrapping your brains from the windscreen or suctioning them from your windpipe in a effort to keep you alive Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I don't know of any, its really too soon to come to any conclusions, but I do know several individuals who are health nuts, vegetarians, etc....and do occasionally smoke recreational pot and have done so for many years without having become addicted to marijuana. Carl Sagan was never addicted to marijuana. But that is because it is not an opioid. And do I need to remind that prescription opioids are a major contributer to addiction, but does not include prescription marijuana! But Netherlands seems to have a very liberal marijuana control system and seems to do pretty good in the statistics associated with drug use and related crimes. http://www.drugwarfacts.org/chapter/netherlands_us#overlay=table/netherlands_us
I don't think alcohol would be legal today, if say, yeast was just discovered. Crack/cocaine? I think I'm better at predicting the actions of a total lying psychopath than a person on, or going through withdrawal from the drug. Marijuana? You can make some really good brownies with it.
Are you addicted to brownies laced wih marijuana only, or do you just like brownies? In fact I just finished off a batch of just brownies and experienced great pleasure from eating them. The sugar content alone activates my conscious pleasure centers and will motivate me to eat them again when available.
