Ah. I can see the argument now - "more guns will make you safer! The bad guys will shoot themselves. Probably."

Depends on who has the gun.

Yep, marketed to school girls. Heather, however, was not a school girl.

    Not yet:
You haven't posted anything but wiggles and trollshit for a couple of pages now - one-line dodges, refusals to engage, namecalling, general wingnut bs.
Your posts read like a worm on a hook.
The hook is not from me - it's from denial. Denial creates vulnerability, vulnerability creates fear, endemic fear warps American culture.
You can free yourself by facing, squarely, the events of American history surrounding the Bomb, focusing especially on January 1945 through the Presidential election of 1948, ending with the Soviet bomb in late 1949. Just write a timeline and look at it. You don't need mine.

In my speculative opinion, the root of the current US gun crazy is in the vulnerability created by continuing denial of two historical circumstances and their continuing influence: the racial oppression built in from the founding, the American leadership failure of courage at the end of WWII (which I regard as far more influential than seems to be generally recognized). That second is the one at hand. You can argue against that speculative opinion, but not until you have a grip on the basic events underlying it.

You still don't know what you did wrong, or you're so ignorant you don't care what you did wrong. Either way, it's your problem.

A wrong you will not quote, specify, or describe, because you can't. But you require it to exist, because the alternative is unacceptable to you.
    That's what denial looks like.

Well, you know ... balls and bluster. No matter which side people take in this dispute 'twixt members, there really is something emblematic about the fact of several threads related to firearms and public safety yet not a single one of them fails to get caught up in balls and bluster, as such.

And if it wasn't this, it would be shooters going on about tech specs and jerky recipes.

In other news, what the fuck is up with the New York Times? I mean, establishment blah blah blah, but come on, they're on a tear.

    Oh, right.

    Sorry.

    #nevermind.

Would suck to be reduced to namecalling and trolling in that case - I feel your pain. But there is a way out:

Once again, making shit up doesn't count as evidence.

Just write a timeline, and look at it.
    - -
You have provided no evidence of anyone other than you making shit up. That's because you can't.
Meanwhile, your repeated reality denial does count as evidence for the tangential argument above - that some roots of American pathology are in the denial of the nature of the events surrounding the end of WWII, the Bomb, and the beginning of the Cold War.
On top of the racial fears, whose influence is dramatic and unarguable, this does (imho) apparently explain a good deal of the gun crazy.

    Denial - > vulnerability -> fear.

But maybe you have an argument otherwise?

The material for your timeline came from your imagination, no other source.

    For example?

Note: you were responding to a recommendation that you write your own timeline, and look at it,
followed by the observation that you have provided no evidence for any of your own assertions, such as those about my timeline.

So your response - a repetition of an unsupported assertion about my timeline - is a bit odd, no? Do you suppose there's a reason you never actually register the content of my posts?

Because what that behavior looks like is an almost pathological denial of simple historical reality, a flinching avoidance of even a suggestion or hinting tangential reference to the events of that time. And that appearance is evidence supporting my speculative opinion - which is looking more and more solid - that the influence of that denial is significant in American culture, including the gun culture. Not as significant as from the denial of racism, maybe (even borrowing some of its significance from racism), but notable nevertheless.

Denial - weakness - vulnerability - fear - after a while, endemic cowardice. It would account for the extra percentage of authoritarian lean in US sociopolitical surveys (around 40% in the US, around 30% in First World countries generally), and the gun panic after Obama's win, and the strange paranoid aspects of the fantasies surrounding the things and the laws governing them - the thirty round magazine as a string of pearls clutched, say.

I asked you for your sources the first time you put that drivel up. You've been shucking and jiving ever since. You're a liar.
