The USGS tweeted about an hour ago that the lava has approached to about 160 meters of the road junction. It seems to be moving pretty slowly. At its peak, it was moving up to 600 meters/hour. https://twitter.com/usgsvolcanoes?lang=en A USGS light aircraft photo from last evening. If you look closely, you can see what appears to be a police roadblock at the junction: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! The problem is that there are several hundred houses near the shoreline to the left and behind where the photographer is, for whom road access is either the horizontal road to the left or the vertical road coming from the bottom, then to the right through that junction, so everyone to the left and behind in this photo will lose road access if the junction goes. A Hawaii civil defense spokesman said yesterday thay aren't sure what the population there actually is since many of the houses are vacation rentals. Note the patches of what look like old lava flows. This isn't the first time this has happened here. The USGS map shows the junction in purple (an old flow) with a 1960 date on it, so it might be comparatively recent.
What project is that? I'm thinking a foreign hostile power experimenting with alternate forms of attack. Is it possible geologically to detect vulnerable locations on sea floors with a lot of build-up tension, which maybe could be triggered using nuclear devices? Just theoretically speaking? And would you then detect increased radiation in the surrounding sea water?
To know if you're safe from "earthquake bombs" you must first find out of they actually work. A whole lot of that work can take place in university labs.
Yeah, but they wouldn't register the initial, much smaller, trigger of energy, only the large geological one, that it was designed to trigger, at a tectonically weakened location. This is just my paranoia. I don't have any institutions left, I can trust, that's all this is.
From under water, thousands of feet down? Dunno. Is there a small pre shake before the big main shake on the seismographs? Just throwing it out there for Pentagon to look into.
Atomic bomb tests on were routinely picked up on seismographs. One under a few miles of water will benefit from the confinement and be amplified.

Lava has reached the road junction and has crossed highway 137, the coast road. The homes at Vacationaland and Kapoho beach lots are now cut off by road. (Luckily many of these homes are vacation rentals.) https://hawaiicountygis.maps.arcgis...ndex.html?id=3428cd9282ff431c865eb32761793078
