Okay, it seems like my invention was a bad idea.

But how then, are we supposed to travel backwards in time?

In your dreams or imagination or by watching a believable BS Terminator movie. Or by believing in believable BS science where wormhole time-travel is 'possible in principle'. Yeah, right.

Going with your airplane idea, I'd say we are not pre-Montgolfier, we are pre-Icarus.

As a general feature of the project or prospect, there's a worry here - If the atoms in the molecules currently assembled into "me" are also traveling backwards in time, I'm wary of the consequences. The reactions that assembled them, for one thing, were exothermic - kept me at about 98F. The prospect of suddenly becoming a frozen chunk of rapidly sublimating carbon and hydrogen compounds is not what I had in mind.

    Reversing time is impossible. ☺

If back-ward's time-travel is possible it would have already happened. All I can think is you must stop time until it overtakes you...

How would it overtake you if its stopped? Asking for a friend.

...because YOU'VE stopped it. Time continues. Perhaps climbing inside a freezer? Guilty your Honour.

We cant travel too far in our current time...try reaching any other star...
I find time travel speculation tiresome.

No better than working out how many angels can dance on a pin.

That one's easy. All existing angels can dance on a pin, with room left over!

Not to put too much strain on an analogy but - just for a moment - consider the temporal dimension as analogous to the spatial dimensions.

When we want to return to the subway station where we forgot our groceries on the bench, we don't reverse the ground to get back there - we reverse our direction upon the ground, by getting on a vehicle that goes in the opposite direction.

We don't have to stop the world to ... let it ... overtake ... us (??). The world continues to do its thing while we turn around.

You don't have to think of time as altogether different from space - they're dimensions - extending in either direction. It just happens that, in the case of time, we can't (naturally) control our rate of motion through it.

So, you've stopped time. Now you're waiting for it to overtake you. But it's stopped.

Pretty sure his idea is that you stop yourself in time, and let time overtake you.

I think he's thinking that history is pacing us, chasing us, and if we slow down it will overtake us.

But that's not the case. Stopping time for yourself is tantamount to putting yourself in suspended animation. Events will move on without you.

I am greatly distressed that Deceptagons have not been mentioned in this thread.

How is this even possible? It's a TV show, not a radio broadcast. Were you less than 4 when you were watching it?

    I cannot remember! ☺

If someone TOLD me how to time-travel, or did it for me, it would become invalid. However SHOULD I construct the thinking for myself, would that be me doing it?Developing some concept that will remain forever? That convinces everyone for ALL ETERNITY? Me? I decided that I love my mum. Within the confines of the Oedipol complex, it remains forever. Murder is done, because I love my mum. I then love my mum. And to continue, after my Mother has given birth to my brother, knowing the child is trying to do the same to me, I would raise the child in a certain way...because I loved my mum.

It's in the Bible, "...later she gave birth to his Brother, Abel."

"Your eyes will be opened knowing both good and evil."
