I've read that bananas do not contain psychedelic substances, so its definitely psychological if one experienced being high.

Why stop it? I beg to disagree with your posit about the dangers of Cannabis. Marijuana (pot) is not addictive. It is not an opioid but a cannabinoid and about as harmful as caffeine and several strains have medically beneficial properties. It has been denegraded for centuries without any knowledge of its chemical components, because it was illegal to even study it. "Reefer madness" was a very effective propaganda movie, but completely wrong!!! Actually it has a very interesting history. The first draft of the Constitution was written on Hemp paper. Hemp is a low THC strain of the Cannabis family and has a thousand industrial uses, from fine cloth to building bricks . Moreover it is ecologically friendly and an effective CO2 scrubber. Of course "fentanyl" is a completely different animal and deadly. But I consider pot as a sacred plant, and I am an atheist....Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
She was talking about Fentanyl, but the pot thing I almost completely agree with. It's probably not as harmful as caffeine, and 'centuries' is a big stretch. No one even cared about it until Mexicans, and the 1930s made it a popular tool for puritans, if I am allowed to mix centuries...

Yes, a "controlled hallucination" or a "best guess" (Anil Seth) But psychotropic drugs interfere with the normal process and are responsible for "uncontrolled" hallucinations, some which can be pleasant, some very disturbing.
