Well, I grew up with the thoughts that weeds or the so-called "Marijuana is harmful and not beneficial. But, I'm confused because there are some misconceptions that I've heard that this type of drugs can be beneficial to some medical patients. Actually, I hate to hear that a close friend is using those drugs for his pain relief. What are your thoughts?
Is it working for your friend? If so, and if it has less side-effect that some other drug then I'm all for it.
Marijuana is good for stimulating appetite in chemotherapy patients. It also makes the evening news more interesting. Or so I hear.
So did I. But I had a pretty good idea that it was hype, even at 15, when I saw that first crude film they used to show in schools. It had so little science and so much scare-mongering, for a minute I thought I was back behind the iron curtain. Thing is, the FBI needed a new bogeyman, once Prohibition ended. The next thing is, law-and-order based political campaigns kept right on cashing in on that propaganda. The biggest thing is: Nixon used the "War on Drugs" as a cover for silencing opposition https://www.cnn.com/2016/03/23/poli...chard-nixon-drug-war-blacks-hippie/index.html Quite a lot of them, actually. More every day, since cancer treatments are increasingly effective, so that more patients survive; however, the side effects of the chemotherapy and radiation can be ... uncomfortable. Marijuana is one of the herbal remedies that help alleviate some of those effects. BTW - it's actually called marijuana, not just so-called. There are millions of weeds, which are uncultivated plants, thousands of which are beneficial. Marijuana is pretty much all cultivated now; I doubt you could find any growing wild by the roadside. You prefer acetominophen, iboprufen, naproxen, codeine, morphine? They're all drugs. Why those drugs, but not this one?
it is also very well liked by care givers of servere epilepsy, some women with extreme menstraul cramps, many athritis sufferers, and most people in wheel chairs for drug free pain & inflamation relief. or so i hear. people who hate people hate it because it helps people and its fairly cheap and you cant enslave people with it like the massive codiene addiction in the usa where the supposed worlds best medical care cant be afforded by the majority of the citizens so they become drug addicts. funny ol version of freedom and civilisation, but it seems the majority of 350 million people like it that way. so there it is.
Weed definitely has some pain-killing effects. And you can buy the essence of it that contains only the pain-killing components, without getting high. The whole Reefer Madness thing was a smear campaign to frighten young people away from it. It's no worse than alcohol.
Henry J. Anslinger needed a cause after Prohibition was repealed. Pot was popular, so it became A PROBLEM.
Far more sinister, and much dumber. Like those anti-smoking ads sponsored by tobacco companies, the campaign was a goad to young people, most of whom would never have thought of smoking weed. I and most of my classmates had never heard of it until that movie - weed was something hippies smoked, not clean-cut suburban teens. But our parents and many of us smoked cigarettes and drank beer or wine if we could get it. There was no real drug problem in America until governments created it by criminalizing recreational drug use. The same way Prohibition threw the importing and distribution of liquor into the lap of organized crime, a potentially rich vein of tax revenue was turned into the huge tax burden for the capture and imprisonment of harmless citizens, and massive profits for gangsters, foreign and domestic, by prohibiting marijuana instead of regulating it. One up-side for the government, of course, is lavishly funded, increasingly militarized police forces with ever-broader powers of search, seizure, wiretapping, entrapment and arrest, which effectively cripples political protest and non-mainstream opposition. The other up-side is immense profits for vehicle, weapons and data contractors, private prisons and juvenile 'rehabilitation' centers. Wanna bet grateful suppliers kick in some some nice campaign contributions?
"...the side effects of the chemotherapy and radiation can be ... uncomfortable. Marijuana is one of the herbal remedies that help alleviate some of those effects." The side effects of the surgery kinda suck too, and those 'treatments' are the gifts that just keep right on giving. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Nothing like sitting down to breakfast and suddenly feeling like you are about to projectile vomit first thing in the morning. Pax 3 vaporizer takes 30 seconds to warm up. Rapid and effective anti - emetic. Works for the codeine nausea too. Doesn't take away the pain, just makes it tolerable. You would be real surprised how quickly you may come to embrace cannabis if you come down with a touch of cancer.......Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
My wife recently had major back surgery. Doctor had her take hydrocodone for the pain, which comes with it's own problems. She found that CBD patches controlled the pain as effectively without the added constipation.
You have different thoughts but it all "boils down to something" that drugs may have advantages and disadvantages. In some ways beneficial to some as a pain reliever. It may depend on users. However, about my friend's situation, I have the feeling that he is using it because he wants an escape. He is in a most delicate situation right now. He might be needing an emotional support. Anyway, I appreciate all your views about Marijuana.
The latest argument, is that weed causes schizophrenia, but I am almost sure this is unscientific nonsense. Then they go on to say that "weed is usually laced with street drugs" which defeat their whole argument in the first place, as it could be the various street drugs, not weed, that causes "schizophrenia." Harvard says weed does not cause schizophrenia, but I guess random tabloids know better than Harvard.
Hi, everyone. I appreciate all your thoughts and beliefs about weeds. Anyway, the last argument here touches schizophrenia but it hasn't been clear that weeds cause schizophrenia.
