Now this would be disconcerting if I were on the job market. Also, there might be more to the "white privilege" notion which can make me feel even more uncomfortable, but that's another story - the man, Ansari, changed his resume name to Jason and found a job.

When I applied to University, by default foreign students, even if they had the same grades as me would be picked later than a naturalized citizen. I do remember one course though that got me over the top. It was a math course and I got everything right. I only got 98% though.

I also have some personable and manipulative attributes. That is just cause I'm inline with some older psychoanalysts that admired, Freud's, intellect even if they disagreed on some issues - psychoanalysis was nick named "The talking cure" early on. If I were to be interviewed by AI I think I'd be screwed. Unless the only qualification I needed was finite mathematics (how many different ways can you draw 52 cards from a 52 card deck.)

I'm an emotional person to some absurdity. I'd be watching a movie with friends and I'd be like Oh noes, I'm going to cry with this scene. Don't cry. Don't cry. This is embarrassing. Trying to look dead pan as a tear rolls down my cheek. Pretending to cough as if to say I'm not crying.

I kinda' feel like I've taken some religious tone. Google gives me stupid ads from my posting history and I can just get annoyed. But this seems to be going a step further.

    Any thoughts?

An AI is only as good as its training set and initial conditions.

This will work well only if the guys don't try to go cheap on evaluation and feedback, or get stubborn about it.

That said, the goal is to beat a standard HR department's hiring - and that, folks, is one of the lowest bars around.

completely agree with you, also i think that AI interviewer would not be successful in long terms. it wouldn't be able to evaluate the candidate properly.

So long as it didn't have a weighting system programmed in, it would make better decisions than, say, and old guy who's a pushover for a pretty girl's smile, or a woman who assumes that pretty young women always try to get by on their smile.
At least, no AI would deduct 2% from a perfect test, just because of a "never give full marks" policy on which some professors pride themselves.

If they are trained in on real world data, they would need a weighting system imposed to counter the standard racism, sexism, etc, of the real world.
It only has to beat the median HR department - train it in on a Ouija board.

i have spent a few years watching people interview different people for a role, only for them to be not suited & others to excell into the top 5%(percentile)

i think interviewing people for a specific role is an art skill like being a very good painter or very good potter.
you must 1st learn to excell at that role before you can do it to a function that from the outside appears very ordinary and common.

the idea of AI interviewing real life people is a fantasy of porn robots gone backwards up someones (butt)Ego.

and... i have been lucky enough to spend some time with someone who specialised and excelled inside that industry and observed them work their artistry.

I agree with the opening poster about talking cures. Surely if someone is mentally ill, a cure can be found by untangling their problem with words, not by a prescription of medication.

Rainbowsingularity, could you construct a viable intelligent interview question, or will an artificial examiner be sufficient??
