He only does this because he realises his approach of belief in bronze age myths is inferior to how modern day folk are entitled to use reason and have freedom of investigation and thought...they are not tied to unsupportable dogma as he finds with his world view.
Who would not be angry and lash out at what brings his world to dust..rather nothing.

He is, rightly so, jealous of our correct accumulated knowlegdde.

He much teg angry when he must admit that our science is 100% correct, when there is nothing in his world view that enjoys any reasonable evidence for any of the unreasonable claims he is forced to defend with the only tools avaiable to him those of avoidance and trickynesz and of course a tiresome claim that reason cant beat dogma.

Jan works on the basis that if he makes the same claim over and over and over that it will somehow gain credibility when unfortunately his over and over game is just tiresome... ... he must also feel anger that his position is presumably so laughable that he can only engage the unrealistic strawmen he builds for whatever arguement he must sidestep.

Of course he must critisise reason and science because his world view can not survive if he at any point could be trueful with himself.
What an unwinable battle within must take place.
Wanting to be honest but forced to be tricky.

The lies he would have us believe are only the ones he is forced to endure and of course that can only leave him bitter causing him to make wild unsupported critism of reason and those folk who enjoy a world free of the necessity to repeat nonsence in defence of unsupportable superstitious made up bronze age notions.

He must realise that the universe is eternal, our science tends to support that idea rather than rule it out it is him and his kind who scoff at a universe from nothing so as to hide the reality that it did not come from nothing but came from an eyernal prexisting something ...but clearly the eternal universe rules out all mythical creators, his and all the rest of invented creators made up before humans evolved to realise there is no design, there is no soul, there is no after life, there is no hell and there is no creator.

All that is left for Jan is anger...anger that he has been conned and it is that anger that causes him to lash out at reason and anyone that employs reason over following unsupported dogma...reason is the prime cause that has caused his world to fade away into irrelevance.

And so each time he rejects reason and science let us feel compassion for all that has built his anger and caused his confusion.

I qill stip short of a final crushing move as I like Jan and only want to see him set off on the road to real enlightement.

Jan I would like to help you understand but whilst you are stuck in this god groove what can I do..nothing your are convinced that this god of yours exists...

The biblical myth is very nice its a wonderful story and clearly was a great start to humans understanding evolution and the common anceztor concept.
But it was thousands of years ago and now we know how it all works.
That is the beauty of science..it makes testable predictions and how wonderful it is that science has tested and retested evolution such that we now know that it is 110% correct..it is correct about stuff we dont even yet know about...but I love the Adam and Eve story it is useful to tell to kids before they start school and avoid trying to properly educate them before they get into a good science class.
I mean its like telling them the stork delivered them..it keeps them happy until they are old enough to grasp biology and evolution.
And using Santa or God is useful to guide them until they select the morality that suits their life style.
But its best to leave out the anti gay stuff so they are not burdened by pi ass nonsence.
My recomendation is to visit the library and go to the science section and learn all this stuff that grown ups learn..evolution biology eternal universe☺

Sorry I thought that was the main purpose here.
It seems like the Adam ad Eve story was popular with earlier folk..that I found interesting.

    Alex

Feel free to show how “things” equate purely to “mankind” when you’re ready.
    And stop waffling.

Jan I really dont understand what you you asking.
How "things" equate to purely to "mankind" what do you mean here.

If you ask the question such that my little mind can understand I would love to try and show how "things" equate purely to "mankind" if indeed they do or perhaps I must show that they dont...

As you know I am always willing to learn from you.

    I asked a simple question.

Santa Clause is a real character, based on a real person. Do you agree, or not?

I will assume the answer is yes, you agree, until shown otherwise.

You seem to accept that Eve being the named the Mother of all things" means Eve is the origin of mankind, according to the bible.
    Why?

I dont read too much into any of it Jan.
Its a made up story and nothing more.
I dont need to tie down this or that because its an old story retold and rewritten so who knows what the original nameless author was trying to say other than humans evolved from a common ancestor in our current stage of an eternal universe.
I do think perhaps the original idea may have been to suggest A and E were the common ansestors of all humans but as I said who knows what the annonomous author was trying to say.
What do you think the story tells us.
Your opinion is as good a guess as anyones so go for it.
I cant argue about mythical characters ...

Well you know how it goes with the bible.
You interpret it how you want.
Kill your Sunday working neighbour..nah. Love your neighbour sure but not that gay married couple that just moved next door...and so I chose even though an atheist to interpret the bible the way I want and so if nothing else I share in common with all those believers that you take what you want to justify whatever position you choose and I choose to think that the A and E story really means that humans had a common ancestor and the various humaniod species evolved from them as well as the apes its just that we are all that remains of the human family and sad that apes did better than us managing natural selection.

    Let’s not interpret it.
Let’s take on what is written.

Thanks for exposing the method behind the false belief, that is your worldview. But one only needs to interpret something if it is not understood.

Now I know that you understand the words of that particular passage where Eve is described as the mother of all living.

So why do you choose to believe it means something that...

    a) It does not say
    b. Given the first chapter, can not mean.

    What is written?
I dont have my bible with me so please post the section you dont want me to interpret so I can see what is written and I will look at what you present.
I am happy to look at what you are looking at if you post what it is that you are reading.
I enjoy this sort of thing...
So no problems just post what it is that you say does not need interpreting and I will give you my opinion...
You are more than welcome and I am interested to know the method behind your world view.

I am sure that I posted remarks like the following to this or a similar Thread.

The garden of Eden story along with Adam & Eve is a myth with no relation to reality. It is contrary to well established notions of evolution.

There is a related set of fossils starting with early primates. One branch of this set of fossils led to modern Homo Sapiens. Other branches led to gorillas, baboons, chimps, & other modern primates.

Darwinian evolution provides a good explanation for these sets of fossils.

The Adam & Eve myth does not come close to providing an explanation.

Similar remarks can be made relating to the set of fossils starting with Eohippus & ending with the modern horse.

There are other sets of related fossils best explained by evolution.

The only thing can shown to be correct your worldview is the fact that it is the Religion thread.

You claimed Santa Claus was real. You are now trying to backpedal, claiming "he's a real character."

By those standards, Jabba the Hutt is real, Snow White is real, and Snoopy is real. Because they are all real characters. I bet you can find a claim that they were based on real personalities, too.

What happened here is that you made a foolish claim. And rather than saying "yeah, I made a mistake there" you have doubled down again and again, because you are pathologically incapable of admitting any fault. Instead you come up with an argument that quickly becomes as absurd as the one above.

I get it you cant post the section I asked for because I am experiencing denial?
    Is that what you said?
Yes that what I see before me in black and white.
Oh well you missed your chance to avoid trickyness so that is a pity.
I win and you lose the standard outcome your repetative behaviour produces for you ...yes just another crushing victory for me...but thanks this victory is very sweet as I offerred to read your selected part of your favorite fable and you just could not help yourself.
Adam and Eve are clearly offerred as the attempt of bronze age humans to put forward the concept of the common ansestor and provide early suppprt for evolution and the creatorless eternal universe...I am glad you agree with me on that and not seen it necessary to attempt a baseless rejection.
