Cats do not have a 360 degree symmetrical array of toes.

OK. The guy who posted the pic wants it to be a cat.
    Let's all say it's a cat.

Okay, it's a very small cat who walked back in the exact same tracks.

You don't have a problem with the fact that the prints are only a couple of mm deep into what looks like fresh-fallen snow?

You don't have a problem with the high degree of symmetry of the prints - unlike any animal?

You don't have a problem with the lack of any artifacts, such as footfalls and dragged grooves?

You don't a problem with the fact that the prints are identical in size, despite the fact that four-legged animals generally have much larger hind paws?

You don't have problem with the fact that there's only one line of tracks, not two in parallel?

    No.

Hoofbeats usually mean horses. Cat tracks seem like the most (only) plausible explanation.

But there's absolutely nothing about them that points to cat.
I'm not even sure there's anything about them that points to four-legged animal.

There's nothing about them that points to anything else.

"We don't know what it is, therefore it's cats" is not valid logic for anyone except Jan and MR.

The simple fact that there's only one line of tracks, not two in parallel should raise a big flag.

Sure it is. Cats are real. Gods and ghosts are not. Cats are common in back yards. A few anomalies (mostly imagined) are not a valid reason to reject the most likely conclusion.

The cat walking on sand had a similar gait. I also googled "cat tracks in snow" and found similar images.

Those tracks look nothing like the example.

LOTS of animals are common in backyards. Bunnies, fox, weasels, birds, etc.

    You're inventing straw men.

Clueless thinks he found similar images too. They're not even close.

Rabbit tracks and bird tracks are easily distinguishable from cat tracks. Fox or weasel is a possibility depending on the locale. I thought the sunflower seeds indicated a civilized locale more than a wild one.
