movie actors look good. movie trailer looks very good. human animal has emotional co-dependency from evolution makes human stick in groups so baby humans do not get eaten by other humans. love for non human things & for non human things to love humans is natural human WANTS to love AI so makes AI love human like a dream come true. love to give everything to human for free like a slave but with an excuse AI doesnt need human but human needs AI so makes human even more lucky to have AI love human give human everything for free.
when love is defined by actions, AI can copy the actions. is that love ? i don't think so. people like to perceive love (regardless of it being love or not)which they refer to the actions. real love is magic AI can not make magic. The desire to "be loved" does not mean the person is being loved. emotional attachment is not love many think it is though.
She isn't supposed to be a robot, is she? The way I heard it, she's a cyborg. She has an artificial robot body (which explains those weird giant eyes that the Japanese love) but there's a human brain and part of a spinal cord in there somewhere, all that's left of the forgotten woman that Alita once was. (Was that woman killed for parts? Was she transformed this way as somebody's labor of love after otherwise fatal injuries? I guess that in the story, it turns out that she was created to be a weapon.) But Manga isn't really my thing. I suspect that Tiassa is the one to ask about Alita.
I imagine that is the central conceit of the film. To-wit: Emotions are not the trademark of humans alone. Any sufficiently advanced neuro-processing system can experience emotion. i.e. the message of the film is to show how this could be.

Argh. I have the perfect pic of King Lobster atop his Roomba-throne, with all his minions in a circle at his feet, hands raised in exultation. But I can't find it!
