As for recycling, our local waste collection company has stopped accepting plastic for recycling. The city government is now completely out of any recycling programs.
crazy no logic whats so ever. the government should run all main recycling plants the job creation would be amazing each city should have a recycling plant that recycles all household waste into plastic types mental types rubber types food correctly done it would create industry
and what do all the private concerns business leaders do ? they become politicians and run those very same businesses and set them up ... how is that working out ? lol the right wing privateers set the government up to be toothless and overtly incumbent on companys having no regulation. then they blame the government for being soo wound up in regulatory practice that it hampers business. when they are part of the group who set the government up that way. its all a game to those seeking to asset strip and privatise as much as they can get their hands on. so please forgive my shortness in hearing phrases that suggest those very same business people are in some way better skilled at running businesses, because they obliviously are corrupt. unles you have another explanation so this renders your comment and many others assertions of the notion to become should corrupt business people run government businesses ? i say no better off to have a government run business that is not optimal than one that is run corruptly and designed to destroy the very service by bleeding every avenue dry until it collapses and needs a government bail out. like the utility companys we have seen how the private industry operate and that has lead to the current situation. why bank roll them to solve a problem they have no intention of fixing which they deliberately created to make as much profit as possible ? it is illogical. please do not take my tone personally.
Upon occasion, typos are entertaining Do we really need to recycle those mental types? Did you have soylent green in mind?
Pretty safe assumption. The market pressure would be toward underperformance. Not to say any given government would, actually.
and dumping and creating hidden toxic waste dumps they have done it wholesale style for the last 40 years when the laws changed they made fake companys then dumped it in other countrys. they are incapable of solving the problem. they have already proven that.
Maybe we will one day be able to manufacture nano-bots or bacteria that can consume plastic and render it safe for the environment, humans, and all life.
That is an interesting idea...... but I prefer that it be mixed with other material and turned into building material. "Why plastic waste is an ideal building material" https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20200819-why-plastic-waste-is-an-ideal-building-material One issue is how to make recycled plastic building products resistant to fire.
i am pro paper cups i am also pro pottery cups however old tech paper production creates waste water pollution from treating the paper and pollute ground water without strict monitoring paper production factories will dump massive amounts of terrible chemicals into streams and water ways they have been doing it for decades. additionally paper cups need to be composted forcing employees to recycle is very difficult because businesses employ people who solely focus on making money not on saving the planet unless their is profit or sales bonuses in it employees wont do it companys know that politicians do not want to risk their tiny margin of votes which they hold power with by making new regulations against businesses who may threaten to stop giving them election funding money and votes micro plastics have now been found in such tiny sizes that they are entering the life cycle of small fish and into predatory fish and human food chains this toxification of the many species is a problem it would cost a lot of plastic to launch plastic (20 to 1 would be a starting ball park figure) they would have to produce probably around 20 times the amount of plastic to be able to launch the plastic want to blast 1 ton of plastic into the sun ? it will cost you 20 tones of plastic to produce Logical option but its 100% cost & no one wants to pay for it.
I have a vague memory of reading about I believe it was a fungus but it could have been a bacteria that can digest plastic. Mainly I remember we were talking about it at book club and hoping they kept it in the lab so it did not get into the plastic drain lines.
LoL your post reminds me of some science fiction i have read also there has been some debate around the theory yes a fungus or bacteria that eats plastic would be disastrous to modern civilization and probably result in 10's of millions of deaths. There has been some secret development of such things but it is kept away from the public and secret to prevent anyone trying to release it to wipe out the modern world. what they have and how it works is well beyond my understanding the only working model that has made public for a brief moment in time was a fungus it was an artificially constructed fungus the rate of digestion was very slow part of the real problem is that such life is unable to be controlled yet so well so because OIL products make up most of our roads cars bridges passenger planes oil ships and buildings if such a fungus could develop and/or bacteria if released it could change and evolve to destabilize bridges roads buildings boats and planes school buses full of kids on motorways ferrys full of mornings travelers oil rigs & drill heads all across the usa etc imagine every oil well head in the usa all coming off at the same time
