There is a ''new post'' and ''recent post'' tab at the top of the page, but I think it could be aesthetically pleasing and quite helpful, to create a small section off to the side, showing when a thread has a new post, and who has recently posted in it. So, if this thread has a new entry, it gets put in that line up. You could have a limit of perhaps five or six threads, doesn't need to show a ton. The problem with the tabs at the top, is it doesn't always show the latest entries. And if someone doesn't quote you, or like your post, you might not see the latest updates. It could be above where the status updates are located, and under ''who is online.''
How bizarre. Beaconators Message count does not increase. It's been stuck on 665 since page 1 of this thread alone. (the real collusion investigation) Now that I'm checking, my count is also stuck. Moderators......is this something we should worry about?
?? Like this? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I don't need to be quoted; I get notified if there are any updates. (See the fourth entry by Write 4U in my screen cap.) If you want to be notified about messages that you are not participating in, there's a 'Watch Thread' button just under that Alert.
How ironic that you've noticed this in the ''collusion'' thread Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! lol Yes, something different. It would be a small/moderate sized ''box'' that could be placed under the status updates, and it would show five threads at a time, that are newly updated, with who last posted. Granted, the ''recent post'' tab at the top shows these updates, but you have to be logged out to see those. The ''new posts'' (when logged in) don't seem to show the latest updates, so this might be an easy way to glance on the front page, to see what threads have the most recent updates, and by who.
If you want to see any posts that have been updated, what about the 'New Posts' button? Oh, you're talking about a sidebar. Well, at the risk of speaking for the Mods/Owners: there won't be any interface mods any time soon. People have asked for simple CSS changes (such as not cutting off the text on the New Posts screen, and a more visible stlying for in-post links to URLs). No joy.
I like the ''recent posts'' tab better, as it shows current posts, but I have to be logged out. It's not a big deal really, but ''new posts'' seems more jumbled, as opposed to ''recent posts.'' Yes. Aw, okay. Just thought it was worth a try. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Right. Because, if you're not logged in, it can't know how many posts are new to you - so it can only show you recent (in an absolute sense) posts.
@ wegs; Notice the "Show all...." at left bottom of the drop down menu? If you open that you will find all posts by members for that specific thread.
