Fortunately CMV causes a relatively mild viral infection in normal people. Unless you are immunocompromised (cancer, HIV, etc). In this case, infection with CMV can be catastrophic. It can also cause trouble to the embryo if the mother gets infected during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester.
