Presumably most of us come here to learn and offer some advice when necessary, at least those without an agenda do, other then a scientific agenda of course!

There will still be "things" (matter.) They will just be inert, or all concentrated in a few gravity wells.

Why do the gravity wells exist where matter is inert ?

The theme to the universe is the "remains of Heaven."

    Christian fundamentalism disguised as science
and ... you have not stated an alternative theory...
this is more a religion or free thoughts thread topic.
probably more free thoughts or alternate religion as you are defining a philosophical belief system as a religious contextual comprehensive mandate to reality.
, with narrative subtext toward a position of inquiry which is possibly false.

    anywho...

Since it is commonly stated ENERGY CANNOT BE CREATED OR DISTROYED ✓
where does the waste come in?

We have X amount of energy at the start of the Universe and we still have X amount of energy

Energy which does not do any work any longer or is used for an undocumented natural function.
    Example: Sequestered Bio-Energy.

More and more energy is becoming "sequestered"?

Sequestered oil from a few billion years of compressed decaying organic matter made up a lot of energy 200 years ago. Since then we have rereleased that energy back into the atmosphere, plus releasing the CO2 which was the sequestering medium, deep in the earth.

Where does the waste come in? Is energy ever wasted or can it be stored and used discreetly?

I agree with you Is energy ever wasted.....
My sarcasm does over in print

    No I was questioning TabbyStar

Having revisited this I looked more closely at

So I agree that said universe is not sentient. However, it either was designed

    Seriously?????

    Red flag planted
