What form of matter can ever " collapse " ?

BH are thought to form all galaxies. The center of all galaxies . Upon what energy and matter is it based on ?

Is this the same river, that doesn't recognise that which we have a photo of, but yet attempts to try and tell us that there was once an Atomic war on Mars, between Alien species???

Has he even attempted to explain the observations we see orbiting that which we call a BH? Like matter/energy for example in Cygnus X1 disappearing down a "sink"??

While agreeing with that, the first thing I try and explain to some old school mates about how BH's form, is illustrating the actual emptyness of atoms of matter.eg: If we stick the nucleus of a Hydrogen atom in the middle of the Melbourne cricket ground, the electron would be orbiting around the outer grand stand seats. The rest in between is nothingness.

    Bingo!!

Stability of the hydrogen atom needs a certain amount of space .

So do all atoms fundamental existence .

Why did you ignore my previous answer, merely to repeat the same question again?

If you have questions that follow from my previous reply, try asking those. I see no need to repeat myself.

Maybe you're right. And the relevance of that observation is... what?

What do you mean by "gravitation"? Be specific, please.

Tell me also why you believe that gravitation moves.

Once you've done that, please explain the relevance of your comment to the discussion we are having.

Just give the post # to your first statement .

I don't think river is interested in the science.

I must have missed that one.

No. He seems incapable of writing much more than a single line of text in any given post, for starters, and what he does write is barely interpretable most of the time.

river just makes empty claims about stuff. He does not explain. That's becoming a problem.

If I were to assume nothing reaches the event horizon, then why do we not detect gravitational waves forming continuously from two black holes forever inspiraling towards each other.
The detections of LIGO and VIRGO show an almost sudden end to these gravitational waves once the two black holes collide and merge together. There's even a ringdown signature signal from the resulting single black hole as the asymmetries are evened-out.

Yeah, he read it in a book, by some jerk named Branderberg or something.
Even MR gave it a weird glance and moved on!!!

    Are you familiar with balloons?

Blow up a balloon. Tie it closed. Now try to squash it with your hands. You will notice that it compresses. This is an everyday example of matter collapsing into a smaller volume. There are many others that you will notice if you pay attention to the world around you.

Why have you ignored my previous answer to your question?

    Okay. And so.... ?

Why would they go on forever? The EH is not any physical barrier, simply a stage in the curvature of spacetime, where the escape velocity equals "c"...so nothing ever gets out. NB: Even Hawking radiation does not require any particle to come back out.

Your " balloons " are an act of gods hands ?

According to some they never reach the other event horizon. So, that leaves them ''forever'' spiraling around each other making GWs. This is not the case with the LIGO and VIRGO detections, they show there is an end to the GWs.

    kevin78:

When we're talking about the merger of two black holes, the two event horizons in a sense move outwards to meet one another and after a short time there is a single horizon.

You asked me how matter can collapse. Remember?

    I gave you an example.

You've handled a balloon, right? You know what a balloon is?

kevin is confused because of the description of how matter falls into a black hole. We see it fall towards the event horizon, but we never see it reach the horizon, from "outside".

    From your post #276

This is what you are referring to then .

According to who? The BH's spiral in, orbiting each other, until they merge and form one larger BH. That is what has been detected at least 14 times now.
