Fixated as a result of brainwashing.
Symptoms..inabity to comprehend any facts that present a different view than the myth which is the new testament written by the Romans.

I was hoping that someone would post and prove that proposition two was wrong but such an absence suggests that there is little wrong with proposition two.
Seti will reject proposition two but I doubt will accept proposition one ... It all depends..is he legit or a site lacky there to get folk like me rattle on...I don't care actually...no answer as to father's age perhaps caused a realisation that with young kids the numbers may not stack up....

    From wiki....

The Spanish Inquisition was a tribunal started in 1478 in Spain. It was started by Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile, with the assistance of Torquemada. During the Spanish Inquisition many people were burnt in front of crowds in the streets. In practice, the Spanish Inquisition served to consolidate power in the monarchy of the newly unified Spanish kingdom, but it achieved that end through infamously brutal methods.

The rulers of Spain asked the Pope to start the Inquisition to catch Jews who pretended to be Christians. In 1492 they commanded all Jews to leave Spain. Many left, but many stayed and said they were Christians. The Inquisition became busy deciding which ones were lying. When Protestants appeared, the Inquisition said they were just pretending to be Christians. Most trials ended with the defendant simply giving up his beliefs and being let go. The Inquisition became less active in later years and was completely abolished in 1834.

You know, I remember Moses coming down from that mountain ( Hallelujah ) and dropping one of the slabs/tablets on his toe. That was a scream.
Wonder why they left that out the good book ?

    You are most welcome.
Have you two been chatting about me?

You know that is so nice. More so because no doubt you both could hate me ... And there would be folk who when frustrated by my presentation of unpleasant facts who would announce with glee that I will certainly go to hell... those are the sort of folk you really have to wonder about.

... And I almost forgot...proposition one or proposition two?

And I do hope your Dad is ok. The reason I asked about his age when you came along is I assume he must have been a decent age to have children as indeed you must have been to have such young kids.

A lot of men at that age will have great great great grandchildren.
I hope things all work out.

    Yes, so are you.

But have mentioned that somewhere, might delve into more detail on a fresh thread outside of religion.

The link sets out possible earlier "Moses" characters although only for the purpose of rejecting them...so you will like it ...but at least you will have an idea about the earlier stories and the literary reasons that type of character was used back then.
It's a bit like the many human gods before Jesus but there does seem a strong suggestion Moses in the bible may have been mythical which puts your rock photos in a strange position and the Spiderman idea pops into my mind again...anyways if you are going to address people you perhaps need to know all this stuff so if you get someone like me in the croud you are somewhat prepared.

Actually all of the evidence for the Exodus sitting out in the Saudi Arabian desert persuades me that both Moses and the Exodus are real. And also that God is very real!

I don't believe the talking snake was very real.
When I find one thing wrong I treat the rest as unreliable. It's like if someone lies to you once you know you can never trust anything else they say.
And when you find them telling stories that are obviously stories others have told and they repeat and place themselves as the main character I regard that as lieing.
When folk make extrodinary claims I don't believe them unless they can offer strong evidence.
Your evidence certainly is not strong and not really established but at least you have tried which is something but to select only the evidence that you feel suits your belief leaves your proposition exposed to the evidence you ignore.
Clearly one needs to know about the earlier stories that present a similar mythical character and the literary approach of the times to give context to the myth you now consider and perhaps consider the futility of trying to make a myth real in the belief that will make an invented god real...perhaps the best message to take is similar to your ignorance re the big bang using nothing as it's building blocks...research what you seek to support or reject...also proving anything relating to Moses does not prove God in the least one way or the other...I expect you could understand if Moses is proved to be a myth that does not prove there is no god...it's like folk saying evolution is wrong therefore god exists...evolution could be proved incorrect tomorrow but that does not prove god ...and proving it's a belief...saying Moses existed does not prove god...the reality is you can't prove god
The Sumerians apparently had their garden of Eden as well...the fact so many biblical stories are apparently repeats from earlier stories is what has me thinking the opposite to you.
May you seek the truth and know the difference between fact and belief.

Discussions like this are ultimately unsatisfying. Either there was nothing, and "somehow" "stuff" came into being... whether that "stuff" is the universe or a god, it doesn't really explain how it came to be. Or there was already something here. That "something" could just as easily be the universe or god... Once again, doesn't explain anything.

On the other hand, all of the evidence suggests to me that the whole Saudi Arabian scenario is rubbish - and it has nothing to do with the existence of God.

Have you ever lied to me, Alex?

Yes. The story about the artist impression was clearly a lie but so transparent I really don't feel it shows someone who is untrustworthy...maybe that's the way to look at the bible as the lies are so transparent one could not take them seriously...the talking snake is perhaps a good example of a clue that should tell us we are dealing with literature and not history or science...but unfortunately some don't get it...in my "lie" to you I really made a strong attempt to signal that I was pulling your leg when I referred to the copper toys not being found in grave sites...I would have thought anyone would see what I was trying to do...which was..make up an unsupported story but make it sound plausible with nonsense...
But Seti I don't lie as far as I can tell...now take that link debunking the Romans wrote the gospels...now when I saw that I could have thought " I hope Seti never sees this" but no..to hide it or not mention it would be dishonest so I posted it for you...and you perhaps did not read the Moses myth link..but that was a guy setting out the myth accounts that he went onto to rebut...I thought that was as opposite to lieing as you could get.

I think rather than ask me if I have ever lied to you I would be asking if the good book has lies firstly and second if you have been lieing to yourself...that last one is the hardest question a human can answer...think of all the lies you may have told yourself to justify buying a new car for example...I do think looking at your evidence and not considering all reasonable explanation is really lieing to yourself..I don't know ..what do you think...could you be lieing to yourself to convince yourself that you really been fair in assessing your evidence.

Such short replies really make me think you work for the site putting out short provocative lines so old folk like me can have a grizzle...if that is the case..well done.
For my part if you are genuine I hope that I may be helping you cope with something more important in your life.
And in any event I really need a break from my leg pain and the technical manuals on astronomy stuff...
