152 years ago things were different(almost)
    When:
Not one single democrat voted to convict Andrew Johnson during his impeachment trial.

20 years later, the supreme court overturned the act which the radical republicans had used to try usurp the president's power and then to oust Johnson from office
stating that the act was unconstitutional.

I'm absolutely floored by Romney's decision. He knows he is jeopardizing his political career, but unlike the other senators who voted to acquit, he voted for the country rather than the party. He decided he didn't want to go down in history as a betrayer to his oath and to the American people. His conscience is clear. And now that those other Senators who did vote for the party and not the country have made their decision, we'll see if their consciences will start chewing away at them for what they did. That often happens after one commits an offence.

I wonder if we should have a pool of those senators to see which one blows their head off first. Of course, this assumes any of them actually have a conscience.

I'll take that brilliant response as a concession.

If living that fantasy makes you feel good:

Have to feel sorry for Trump supporters, tying their wagon to a psychopathic lunatic along with the humiliation they are probably only now starting to understand that will follow them all of their days. Their children will have to disown them and take on new names and identities.

Then all of a sudden, out of nowhere comes Mitt Romney, a guy whose religion is so fucking crazy, yet even he, out of all the other religious right nutjobs in the Senate had the fucking common sense to understand that pending, life long humiliation. Mitch McConnell and his goon squad sat there with smug grins the whole time, not even flinching while Romney's vote and speech refused to sink into their thick skulls.

And still, those Trump supporters believe we're the ones living in a fantasy. I retire to bedlam.

Potentially. He'll be 72 years old in 2024.

A beautiful synopsis of Trumps acquittal by Jonathan Pie.

It does seem very odd we don't have the Trump supporters here gloating, just like Trump has been doing. Perhaps, it's that sick feeling in their guts telling them something else?

The key word in R's speech is Conscience.
You will note that the Trump supporters have somehow replicated Trumps Conscience or lack there of. Some how being subjugated to Trumps reasoning and accepting and promoting it.
If this was a horror flick one would assume that Trump has some sort of mind control over others. Certainly their conscience, both individually and collectively appears to be uniformly compromised.

I would assume that many people around the world who have an interest in the occult would be stunned by the obvious evidence they are witnessing as usually this sort of thing is very convert and unavailable for scientific assessment.

How can so many people share such an irrational and counterproductive perspective?

Since the Republican party betrayed their oaths and the American people by not allowing a trial, they couldn't possibly have found the arguments to be fallacious. So, that's an obvious lie. And because of their betrayal, everyone loses.

    Bull shit!
Complete and total bullshit, derived from prejudice and ignorance!
    The oath:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

The constitution is a simple read.
Most people can read it in about 20-30 minutes.
Read it before you make up any more bullshit.

Truly amazing, after all this time, you still have no concept of what everyone here is talking about. Completely oblivious to the fact the Republican Senators betrayed that oath, as well as their oaths for the impeachment trial. No clue.

Notice the last four words? "So help me God." Romney understood that, no one else did.

You're not quoting the Constitution correctly. Specifically you missed the clauses that say "I won't defend the Constitution of the United States against Russia, because no enemy of the United States would buy half as many condos from me as they do. Saudi Arabia also gets a pass, as long as they only slice up journalists working for newspapers critical of the performance of my administration, and their extortion attempts only target Americans who make me look poor and uneducated. So help me Thor."
