actually I suspect theists dislike the theory of evolution because they believe it contradicts their religion.

Many scientific facts contradict religious and ID views.

Religion/s and ID adherents, have beliefs solely based on myth, an ancient obscure book, and legend, rather then science and the scientific method.

    Why do you suspect that?
I think they don't like the idea that their ancestors were ape like and presumably black. So many times I have heard a anti evolution theist say that they don't come from monkeys and one gets the impression they just don't like that aspect perhaps because they think being related to apes somehow detracts from their intelligence...one could interpret the bible pretty much any way at all both for and against evolution yet they rage against evolution..I reckon it's the prospect of being related to apes and no doubt black early humans that they reject evolution and use the bible to try and hide their racist feeling and monkey phobia.

They never keep monkeys as pets why do you think that is the way of it.

Anyways I look forward to why you think evolution may be seen by theists as contradicting their religion.

because I have heard it from some.
also because I have observed that people tend to be rather touchy about their beliefs being contradicted.

You actually listen to them, not in person I hope..like you don't hang around with them and play let's pretend there is a god games.
Why for goodness sake? You could think they would be happy to have reality pointed out to them and that they have be conned to believe unsupported nonsense. They probably seem touchy because they are starting to realised they have been conned.

actually I do not play lets pretend there is a god games, but many of my relatives are Christians.
    perhaps.
I don't know why they are touchy.

    Well ask them.

Ask if given history shows Jesus was an invention of the Romans based on astrology and that evolution tells us the biblical account is clearly wrong is that why they feel they have been conned and too touchy to admit they have been lied to.

And when they say "but I have faith" point out that faith is the acceptance of an unevidenced proposition that enables belief in anything at all and is demanded by folk who really have nothing to support whatever make believe they ask you to accept.

I would wait until everyone is together at some family function so you can generate respect for standing up for truth and the facts that careful examination of the real history tells us about their mistaken world view and believe me they will love you for pointing out that they are all wrong.
Perhaps after a funeral where you can also point out that the departed has not gone to a better place and that the idea of a soul was just a superstition from the days of the ancient Eygiptians and it to sadly is just another lie told to them to help have them believe in nonsense that has them giving their hard earned cash to an institution that keeps them imprisoned using guilt and self loathing to ensure the cash keeps rolling in..

Now tell me were you able to realise that I was joking?
I ask because I often find folk who are preoccupied by numbers miss my dry humour...now that's not your fault but I am trying to understand you is all. Also are you studying Math or is it an interest?

    We don’t dislike darwinism.

What a most pleasant surprised to find you here Jan. I do hope you are well.
The op asks why theists reject evolution, which is a generalisation as clearly many theists accept the science and fit their beliefs into a reality where science is understood and accepted.
And some theists in addition think evolution is cute which if for no other reason is nice as it reflects the inoccent simplistic approach some theists exhibit to dealing with reality...well you know that you just now said as much.
And although gods are invented by humans I can see their appeal, look at the fortunes built upon these invented gods ..that can only be good..keeping money going around it very important and establishing businesses that can build reliable streams of income is what every capitalist economy needs...Sure we should be able to do better but let's face it many humans have yet to evolve to a point where they can function without superstition.
And in general the make believe industry drives the world economy...movies and entertainment based on make believe, the car industry..make believe in bucket loads...Anyways nice to know you appear as Jan.
Tell me Jan what do you think about the research that shows all gods are actually only invented by humans ..does that come as a shock?

But far far more cuter to deny the finality of death, and imagine being in heaven with 42 Virgins.

You're not even sure what you mean by "darwinism".

What you mean to say is, no one is sure what is meant by darwinism. I hear you. But the point of darwinism is a lie, an outdated one at that.
It is now relegated to atheist philosophy.

Yes Jan, that's why anyone who does a search of "current" peer reviewed articles on evolution, we find a minimum of 4 million, all of which support evolution as a fundamental concept.

How is that an outdated lie?

A little voice in his head told him...

I should thank him for putting me onto whale evolution. I have been studying it for weeks now and it is so very interesting...what I do find exciting is the research ..there are scientists who have devoted their entire lives to this research..it's really wonderful...And it really does make the Jans of the world, who are clearly ignorant of the research and mountainous evidence, just sound so silly.

However I don't think Jan believes a thing he or she puts up here, and is probably just trolling and takes a position that suits that game..or could be someone engaged by the site to keep old folk like me entertained.

Jan appears intelligent and that is entirely inconsistent with things he says he believes..I mean to maintain his position on "Dawinism" seems contrived...his action is consistent with playful trolling or an effort to generate site traffic.
