    In the long run, everything is doomed. In around 3 billion years or so, our Sun will become a Red Giant, and engulf both Mercury and Venus, and if it hasn't engulfed Earth, we would still be a cinder anyway.
    We may have by then established colonies on Mars, or one of the moons of Saturn or Jupiter, or more then likley by that time, we will have gone extinct anyway.

    Our technology will surely progress but I think that our core level of humanity and empathy for each other will have devolved further than it already has.

    And if World War 3 breaks out sometime in the future killing tons of people and destroying our infrastructure then the only technology left is probably going to be this:
