I think the idea of decentralized government using the states is a good one... but it does need some really hard thinking and a hell of lot of good will and faith to make it work....

It doesn't need to be complicated. Politics makes in complicated. A party that isn't going to get minority votes has an incentive to make it harder for minorities to vote.

The electoral college allows for a President that didn't get the highest popular vote count.

Mail-in votes can be lost, slowed down, disqualified.

It all should be handled in a non-political way. Having said that, there is little actual vote fraud. It's just messy, like our whole system.

The system will probably actually turn out to have worked in this case. Biden will probably be President, the Democrats won't control the Senate and will control the House.

That's not the "systems" fault. It's how the people voted. All the "craziness" in our system is due to the "diverse" population. We have a lot of ignorant bigots. Divide the country into the red states and the blue states and it would run pretty smoothly.

It appears that huge percentage of Americans are closet Trumper's. Secretly hiding their support, probably because they are too ashamed to admit it unless anonymously at the polling booth.

    Zack Beauchamp↱ on polarization:

There's this argument that Trump would have won handily if it weren't for the pandemic. But his approval rating barely budged after the outbreak hit.

It seems equally likely, if not more likely, that *literally nothing mattered* — campaigns, huge world events, none of it.

Thinking back, recalling how so many people were so offended, over the years, by observing unflattering implications of their arguments—(It's not supremacism! The problem is elitists like you calling it supremacism! Calling it supremacism is how you silence anyone who disagrees with you!)—it really does seem as if they really were just a bunch of bigoted supremacists. Or if it's not that, we can only wonder what is so much more important for them than logic and reason. They will destroy themselves for this, literally give their lives for the sake of war and pestilence and deprivation. And, really, it's the deprivation that gets them off; the point is to feel empowered and worthy by inflicting suffering against others. These folks had plenty of reasons and plenty of chances to come away from the hatred, but it turns out there's always an excuse, and if those pretenses never actually come true, they always were just cheap excuses, to begin with.

You touch on few interesting points.
    One of many aspects:
Perhaps I may be guity of over generalization when I suggest that most people take a certain pride in their capacity to reason, even if declared flawed by higher intellectuals, however when it comes to the irrational desire to cheat, yes cheat, using bigotry as a method to secure the power they irrationally feel entitled to they may not feel so proud and may seek to hide it until they are free to do so anonymously.

Ashamed of their need to cheat and too lacking in courage to posess the necessary fortitude and princples that would carry them through regardless of levels of public exposure.

One could suggest that the polls have been lied to by those too ashamed to admit the fraudulent nature of their position and the true nature of American bigotry comes to the fore.

They don't know the meaning of the word 'shame'. They wear God, Guns and Trump shirts in public. In any situation where they were asked in person, they didn't hesitate to speak out - with or without brandishing an assault rifle in the reporter's face. The less blatant Trump supporters, too, called into radio shows and editorial pages, expressing their insightful and reasoned arguments, like "It's the democrat states, with democrat governors that can't keep law and order!"
They support Trump, because he told them he can protect everything they care about: their jobs, their property, their security and their illusions. Literally nothing else matters - not the constitution , not their international reputation , not the character of their leader, not truth, justice, compassion or the survival of the planet.
They didn't get counted in the polls, because they threw the questionnaire away, while the liberals conscientiously filled theirs out. They were not analyzed by media pundits, because no media pundit has been able to bring himself to admit how callous and short-sighted his compatriots are.

Ashamed? I think this is simply a question of self-protection. Some unknown person calls you and wants to know if you prefer Biden or Trump. Sure that it is not a BLM activist?

I wouldn't be surprised if a large percentage of BLM activists voted for Trump...
Fact is nearly 48% of the national vote has gone to Trump...that's 68,600,000+ million... and it was supposed to be a blue wave... lol

    A hypothesis:
This is probably true... Because Trump knows damn well how to solicit the favor of like minded individuals when it comes to what matters most... Self esteem....( vanity - self-worth) stolen through cheating and bigotry.
Trump made his supporters feel superior, in fact the more incompetent and nasty Trump performed the more his supporters felt superior. When people who have low self esteem are given an opportunity like Trump has done, to make themselves feel good and "superior" they take it regardless of what Trump does or says. (even if it is a self fraud)

I believe the word you are looking for may be emboldened.

Trump voters always had the complex of superiority.

perhaps Trump managed to validate their illusion. After all is this not how a Con man works his trade?

LOL, looks like either the Trump camp is so stupid to fake this picture given that it should be straightforward to prove that it is wrong (even in such a banana country as the US), or the Dems are so stupid to insert the fakes votes in such a primitive way.

You don't know how counting works? Each ballot found in the box is injected into the tally as it's opened and read.
You don't know that it was the trumperies who held up and did everything possible to retard the mail-in votes?
You do know, but, being a trumpethic supporter, you have to retweet an unoriginal lie.

Hmm, it’s still suspicious that no mail in ballots that were counted yesterday morning in MI, went to Trump. Zero. That’s just odd.

That said, Trump should concede gracefully instead of dramatically fighting this for the next few months in the courts.

While I broadly agree with you, remember that in the US you are voting not only for the President/VP team. The attached ballot from the nov. 2012 election for Minnesota has the following:
    President/Vice President
    Federal Senator
    Federal Reperesentative
    State Senator
    State Representative
Referenda on two state constitution amendments
    County Commisioner
Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor for the county
Mayor for the City of Afton
Council member for Ward 1 of City of Afton
Three School Board Members for Independent School District 834

That's thirteen specific "boxes to tick" and thirteen specific votes to count.

Trump specifically told his supporters not to use the mail in ballot system because he claimed it was corrupted, so most likely, those folks counting votes ran across a whole lot more Biden mail in ballots than Trump.

The Trump Campaign has now filed lawsuits in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia to stop the vote count. Can the right stoop any lower? Have they no shame at all?

"Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson called Trump’s lawsuit “frivolous” and criticized the actions of poll challengers declined access to TCF Wednesday afternoon who caused “distraction” and made “a lot of noise.”

“If they thought they were going to intimidate or stop anyone from doing their job inside the TCF Center, then they don’t know Detroit,” she said."
