I recently spent time in the hospital, got tested for some things and only one of which I'm certain for. I was in there for a broken bone.

If you've had a swab shoved up your nose to look for covid-19 it is not a comforting experience.

I also got the other nostril swabbed (not so far up) and two rectal swabs (not comforting either.) Yet, I don't know what the testing was for. Which would leave open the question: were they all Covid tests or no?

All tests came back negative, really whatever that means.

Nah, the rectal swabs were just for fun.

I hope they used a fresh swab at some point in there...

There seems to be some validity to rectal swabbing for Covid-19, yes.

Google 'rectal swab for covid 19' and take your pick.

Why didn’t they tell you what they were testing for?

    Hope you’re feeling better, Beer.

It may seem irresponsibly ignorant, but with covid-19 looming I didn't think to ask questions.

    Well, about that I mean.

Yea, I get it but they should share it on their own.

Was the hospital crowded? I’m reading about hospitals becoming overwhelmed in some areas, again.

If someone were to propose shoving something up my bum, I think I would want to know the reason. You must be very trusting.

I feel to be a good citizen I should cooperate.

As someone married to someone in the healthcare industry...

You are a good citizen. Disabuse yourself of the notion that doctors and nurses are authorities above your questions for self-knowledge, or that you are passive and submissive in the care of your own health.

It's not just your right, but your responsibility, to get informed and to supervise your own healthcare.

That's all it is - getting informed, you're not questioning them or challenging them.

None of those doctors or nurses will be at your side a day, or a week, or ten years down the road when the consequences of earlier decisions raise their heads.

Had a covid 19 test did a few weeks ago, after our school boys reunion and returning home with a mild cough. It involved a throat and nose swab from memory, no anal intrusion whatsoever.
    All clear by the way.

Speaking of anal probing, I was having a colonoscopy last year, and laying on the hospital operation table waiting for the Doctor, when in walked a Nurse with a dirty big camera in her hands. I couldn't help myself and quickly remarked, Jesus, you're not going to use that are you Nurse? It literally had the anesthetist and others present doubling over with laughter.

Have played Rugby League football, been knocked over by a car, fallen from a second story window while young and drunk, and never had a broken bone in my body..some bruises, cuts and scratches, but no broken bone/s.
Not sure what that indicates, or does not indicate....no brittleness or minimal brittleness?

Me too. Never broken a bone or even sprained anything.

In the stand-up video arcade game Defender, by Williams, there is a super weapon for desperate situations called the "Smart Bomb". You only have a max of three. We (my group of friends) concluded that, when you die, you should have one smart bomb left - no more, no less. If you have more than one, then you aren't using them strategically to stay alive, and if you have zero, then you've squandered them and died because I didn't have one left at the critical moment.

So, the fact that I have zero broken bones or even sprained joints suggests that I am not making strategic use of my body's durability.

Either that, or I am overengineered.

Like, Henry Ford, who combed through piles of busted Model Ts and found that the crankshaft was never the cause of a failure. He concluded it was over-engineered and had to pared down until it failed as often as any other part.

Yeah a few sprains as well, most painful my thumb! And a cartilage [medial mensicus] extracted when I was 18, from left knee, before keyhole surgery, and still troublesome today when going for extended walks...knee replacement was suggested...Only if and when absolutely necessary. I hate hospitals! Love Doctors and Nurses, but hate Hospitals...When in for any length of time, I undergo a metamorphosis and turn into the Hulk. Not pretty to quote a well known Aussie actor/comedian, Paul Hogan.
