His underlings are - especially Barr, whose recent diligent activity is inexplicable as a mere corrupt Trump minion running errands for his boss.

Trump is not an aberration or isolated outlier from the fascist movement that has taken over the Republican Party, he's a main line central representative - and his tenure in office is an opportunity; now that their hopes for a four year extension of that opportunity have been squelched they have kicked things into gear for the couple of months they have left.

Check out the pattern of resignations and replacements in the Pentagon and DOJ and NSA and so forth, for example, especially in the Homeland Security "intelligence" agencies and civil service positions from which a Biden administration cannot dismiss without official cause, and among "acting" status officials who do not face public confirmation hearings. General Tata, for example, who was so obviously unfit he could not get confirmed by McConnell's Senate, has that new job. http://pulse.ncpolicywatch.org/2020...on-be-top-pentagon-policy-official-after-all/

    and there's lots more - overview: http://yastreblyansky.blogspot.com/2020/11/paranoia-everywhere.html

Remember the rule of thumb: if you want to know what the Republicans are up to, start with what they are accusing other people of doing - in this case the guys who feed the media under cover of Trump's big mouth and public shitshow have been stepping up their claims that various ambiguously identified foes of the Trump administration have been manning a "deep State" operation to undermine his Presidency and destroy him personally. (We've been seeing the sullage from that wash up even here, in the Bandarlog posts).

The chaos and distraction Trump is creating now is being put to use - it's always been his primary value to his supporters, if it's his only one for the next couple months that's not a severe loss.

Instead of a "rigged process", the record turnout of eligible voters in the history of the democratic republic is an affirmation of the foundational logic and functional effectiveness of the democratic process.

Three cheers for the democratic process
hip hip ... hip hip ...hip hip ... hoorayyyyyyyyyy.....

After it took a record turnout of people risking their lives to overcome massive suppression attempts by elected officials simply to turn aside - temporarily - a fascist takeover of the entire executive branch, electing in its place a corporate apparatchik whose previous accomplishments have included damaging Social Security, sabotaging national health care, and voting approval of the Iraq War (Gitmo and all),

    and noting that the net result of the election in general was - after the wealthy had thrown hundreds of millions of dollars at a complicit media to influence its misrepresentations while a badly crippled economy got hammered by a pandemic - a Federal legislature that represents neither the favored policies or the partisan allegiances of the large majority of the citizens;

that is not, in short, representative: America does not have representative government any more, however "democratic" it may be -

I'm going to hold off on the celebratory congratulations.

70 million Americans, mostly adult white men who have no excuse whatever, want to restore the Confederacy and bring fascism to power in this country - and they continue to make progress toward exactly that, a marginal setback in the Executive office notwithstanding.
That's several times the number of loyalists (and a higher percentage) the Nazi Party had at its peak in 1930s Germany, and a similar advantage over Mussolini's push in Italy - how it compares with Franco's "conservative" backing, or Pinochet's, or the Argentine general's, I don't know. But congratulations hardly seem in order, and self-congratulations cringe-inducing. We got temporarily lucky, at best, with Trump - and not even that with rest.

Patrolling the border line, and looking at what's happening on America's side comes across as (a movie about) what happens to a democracy when they let someone drive, who doesn't know how.

So choose your vehicle, install your pilot and watch. Did he nick a stealth bomber? Or just a train?
With the latter, at least when "someone" eventually gets their hands on some levers, they can re-route a train.

Will that someone be wearing a friendly smile, a suit and a badge that says USA? Will they be in uniform?

    Pass me some popcorn.

Georgia has finished it's hand count, again confirming by over 12,000 votes Biden has won. Trump has now lost twice in Georgia.

Mitt Romney, once again, takes another stand against Trump, calling his latest moves "undemocratic"

Mitt is now my hero. Run him in 2024... for the Dems... against Trump.

    When he

    - like the rest of the supposedly anti-Trump Republicans who currently dominate the US punditry bench, where they get paid more to plagiarize the past thirty years of liberal and lefty discussion than any lefty ever got paid to think and write in the first place -

wanted a lifeboat to salvage something from the wreckage of his political life. In his case, after he could paddle away from the stinking mess with little risk of losing his tax breaks or public reputation - regardless of public admission or atonement.

There are no honorable, honest, adult, and sane Republican politicians. Anyone who stayed in that Party after the rise of Limbaugh and the invasion of Iraq is a mainstream (Trump) Republican, and fully complicit in the fascist takeover of that Party - they sold their souls for a mess of tax cuts, and the Devil doesn't have a return policy.

Romney is a disgrace to his family name, home State, and claimed national allegiance - complicit in everything the Republican Party has done since his first ventures into "public service".

His racially biased career efforts to undermine and prevent US public health care, for example, have been major factors in the current Covid disaster afflicting Utah, which may yet be forced to shut down as a State, and the US, which may yet find itself quarantined as a nation by countries that still have modern health care systems to protect.

That from one of the rightwing posters who questioned the existence of a sense of humor in other people. You can't make this shit up.

    At any rate: No - - - -
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtue_signalling
    unless - - -
claiming to not be Republican is virtue signaling.

Although one regrets not being able to fully enjoy that joke, due to the obvious application of Poe's Law and the apparent naive sincerity of the posting ( it is easily possible that the poster does not know any better), it still illustrates a major feature of the 2020 election and its current aftermath: to accurately describe the political career and current political behavior of a politician still belonging to the Republican Party during the 2020 elections is to set oneself up as their moral and ethical superior.

In other words: everybody knows. The Republican media feeds aren't deceiving, misleading, etc - - they are enabling.

    Poe's Law. That sounds serious.

    OK, so that's "no".

Some Conservatives, so brainwashed by Trump, are refusing to vote in any more elections because they believe elections are now completely fraudulent. They want to move to Texas and start their own country with Trump as their leader.

That's been a frequently recurring political issue in the US since before Texas was a State - the original version had preservation of slavery among its primary motives (that was before the Civil War - the conflict between the founding principles of this nation and the Texas white man's idea of how things should be governed has been obvious from day one) and it has never renounced its roots. Meanwhile the list of flamboyantly dishonest and personally deranged rich guys who have risen to the role of spokesman for Texan Nationhood and Freedom From Northern Oppression has grown longer with each passing decade.

What has prevented the secession of Texas and formation of an independent Nation between Mexico and Colorado has not been a lack of whackos with money or pitches, missing will or opportunity; it's been the governmental incompetence of its advocates. Texas has been a ward of the US for its entire history - like the mentally challenged younger child of a kind and prosperous family, it survives on the charity, forbearance, and occasional intervention, of the Northern liberal and the Northern taxpayer.

Also, unfortunately, on the need of the Northern industrial capitalist for military forces who don't ask inconvenient questions such as "What are we fighting for?"

Look, I'm an American observer of my surroundings, not repeatedly posting this as some kind of exaggeration or joke: Trump is not an aberration.

Nothing about him or his candidacy or his followers is new or even significantly different - guys like Rod Serling were warning the US citizenry about the threat posed by a fascist takeover of the Republican Party thirty years before Limbaugh was given a free hand under Reagan and a secure paycheck by the financial backers of America's ruin.

Trump is the current mainstream representative of a very large mainstream political faction, probably a plurality, of Americans - the historical President he most closely resembles in governing is Ronald Reagan, the media figure he most closely resembles in rhetoric and appeal is Rush Limbaugh, and both of those are mainstream Americans. The political faction he (and Reagan, and W, and Cheney, and Limbaugh) represents has changed Parties with opportunity, grown and shrunk with circumstance, picked up and discarded and picked up again symbols and canards and slogans and whatnot (the white hoods have been put away, the burning crosses are out of fashion, the black swastikas are only now re-emerging with the deaths of the last WWII veterans who saw Auschwitz and Dachau and the dozens of others first hand - recently even the Flag of White Racial Confederacy has been removed from some of its places of public honor and celebration) - but never gone away, or even been pushed to the fringes.

And the idea of a Texas free of Federal supervision (but still stuffed with Federal cash and contracts and so forth) is nothing new to them.

Most problems seem to come from this white man that you speak off. The Minnesota/South Dakota area of our country is pretty white. Have you considered moving to an area with more people of color where you might be able to affect greater change?

    I don't, here.

Meanwhile: Your automatic and reflexive confusion of "Republican" and "Trump follower" and "swastikas" and "Dachau" and "Confederacy" and "Texas" and so forth,

    with "white man",

reveals. Briefly: everybody knows. Trump is not an aberration. There is no "Trumpism" that can be excised from the Republican Party. The Republican Party is W&Cheney, Limbaugh, Fox, and the Confederacy - "Trumpism/Republicanism" - all the way to bedrock.

My money is on president Donald Trump. The Supreme court will overturn the election in PA and/or MI.
