Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

You're qualified to judge, I take it?

What do you want to know?

Why are you still here? Seems like a waste of your precious time, mixing with such people. Off you go, then! Greener pastures and all that. Good luck!

With sciforums as its leaders, you mean?

Guys, guys! I think we might need to handover control of the Grand Physics Conspiracy Project to somebody who isn't crooked and deceitful.
Hey, wait a minute! What if we're sneaky?

20 years so far. 80 to go and we'll see.

Looks as if our friend is lining himself up for a Grand Trampling Exit from the other forum too. This is his latest, after return from suspension there:
"It is your free will and it is the physics community's free will to focus on things like 1) how long does it take for a proton to decay 2) how long does it take for a black hole to evaporate 3) how long will the universe last 4) we don't have to think about physics constants 5) spacetime exists, but we don't know what it's made of, and don't care. You folks can decide what you think is important. But just don't ask me to care what your views about reality are."

The curious resentment and lack of self-awareness remind me of Reiku. I wonder if he, like Reiku, is somewhere on the autistic spectrum. But there is also a curious blend of crank physics with creationism and right-wing American politics, which is nothing like Reiku (who is Welsh). Anyway, it's probably the last we'll see of him.

We do tend to attract our fair share of crank physicists. It probably has something to do with forum name. Mind you, there do seem to be an awful lot of them beetling away at their revolutionary disproofs of Einstein in their garages, and lots of them are allowed internet access.

I think we might also have to bear in mind that the sorts of Americans (in particular) who go in for creationism, conspiracy theories and right-wing politics have all just experienced a rather jarring disappointment that they can only get to grips with (while staying in their bubble) by inventing yet another conspiracy theory or three. They don't/can't realise that their resentment is directed at entirely the wrong people (again, without breaking the bubble). It's a sorry state of affairs and it will require a lot of work to start to fix the underlying problems that put people in that kind of bubble in the first place.

I doubt we've heard the last from POVphysics just yet. (He does seem to be following a well-worn path on this forum, though.)

That's an interesting idea. If you are right, we should see more conspiracist/"sheeple"/"they-laughed-at-Galileo" types coming out of the woodwork in the coming months. I suppose the various lockdowns over in the States will give some people more time in their garages, working on nutty theories.

    All good Christmas entertainment.

Which reminds me: there is usually an appearance of at least one free energy crank around Christmastime. Better lay in a supply of popcorn.

    And.....he's off:
"I'm done. You're deliberately trying to prevent innovation. We could literally develop the interstellar drive if it wasn't for all the effort being put into stalling. "

I wonder where he will pop up next.

    That was engineers, not physicists.

Some examples of practical applications of physics:
GMR allows hard drives to store a lot of data
Quantum teleportation/entanglement allows for quantum computers, which are now being sold to universities and computing centers
Hall effect sensors allow accurate measurement of current for motor drives. Ebikes use these among other things.

POVphysics just banned from the other forum for being a sock of Wulphstein. Funny thing is that all this rings a vague bell with me, but I can't put my finger on it.....

    POVphysics2:

It's often difficult to know where scientific research might lead. Nobody is asking you to care about the entropy of black holes. What are you so upset about?

What makes you think that superstrings should behave like your spaghetti? What do you know about superstring theory?

What do you think of Stephen Hawking's explanation? I assume that you, as a physics afficionado, must have at least read A brief history of time.

    Maybe it's just you.

It is a theory dreamt up by physicists.

I'm not a expert, but I'm interested. Tell me what you know about what quantum loop gravity has to say about big bang cosmology.

That's your opinion, is it? What are your qualifications in cosmology? Just so I know how seriously I should weigh your opinions on this matter, you understand.

I assume you've read Hawkings' paper on that question. Did you find any problems in it?

Really? The biggest fraud ever! That sounds bad. Somebody should outlaw physics, maybe.

"Jackoffs" doesn't sound very nice to me. Are you angry about something?

Are you saying you're not familiar with the literature? I thought you must be an expert of some sort, making all these pronouncements about various theories being garbage and frauds etc.

There have been many advances in physics that have affected people's lives since 1973.

    To distinguish them from what?

The evidence would be quantum behaviour in general, would it not? Or, again, are you trying to distinguish that hypothesis from some other one?

That sounds like a big topic. You sound angry that it hasn't been solved. Why is that?

Do you believe that chemistry causes consciousness? Interesting. Tell me why.

Why do you believe that the physics constants are fine tuned for complex chemistry? Tell me.

You sound angry that nobody has worked that out yet. Why is that?

GBH is a compressed momentum spheroid. You will learn that in the future. Right now too many are set in their ways, such that they cannot comprehend collision, friction and motion of dark matter.

Strange I only know GBH as

Grievous bodily harm (often abbreviated to GBH) is a term used in English criminal law to describe the severest forms of battery. It refers to two offences that are respectively created by sections 18 and 20 of the Offences against the Person Act 1861.

Howdy and hello, GBH is galactic black hole. Its' compressed compression pressure density; which is a major part of most states and geometries in the observable universe.

    Maybe.

    Is this important? Why?

All three states create ke^2.(Actually its' ke^4, but most people cannot comprehend that). All three states create geometries. All three states are topological evolving templates for Natural States.

Nuh-uh, it's really ke^6 but you cannot comprehend that!

All you lesser minded people are happy with ke^6, but only I can comprehend ke to the EIGHTH power! But continue with your little discussion, by all means.
