I just registered an account with Etoro, and deposited $1000.
What stock to buy and hold for 6 months?
    Apple,
    Intel,
    UBER,
    Citi Group.

    Any suggestion?

    What's your time horizon?

Get a mutual fund. Choose your risk based on how long you have to invest. If your horizon is over 10 years, go with a high risk/high return fund, preferably one with fairly low expenses.

That's not a realistic way to invest in the stock market.

Get a brokerage account. Etrade works fine. Transfer some money to your Etrade account. Then click Trading -> Mutual Funds -> Buy.

Many mutual funds are "no load" i.e. no commission. You buy these directly
    - no broker.

If I bought Apple stock back in 1980, invested $10000, ten thousands, never sold it, how much is the value now?

However if you bought it and only held on to it for 6 months you would be no better off than you are now.

I am of age 44, I can buy Apple and keep on buying when its price is down, hold until age 55.
I will have a lot of money then.

Then do it. But bear in mind that past performance of a stock is no guarantee of future results.
Yes, Apple have done exceptionally well over the past 15-20 years, but maybe there will be a time when a new launch fails, when they take the wrong path etc.
But if you have the money and willingness to invest in them, do so.

Try searching Google for "investment platform" and the country you are based in.
In the UK I have used Hargreaves Lansdown (www.hl.co.uk) for example. I find their service quite straightforward to use.
