I took the test after your post implied that I should. You're going to argue that too? Chris Rock is a comedian therefore he is neither a singer nor a farmer. Globalization isn't about "humanity" and it's not just about "trans-national corporations".
I didn't say anyone was answering falsely. I said that many seem to not be thinking things though sufficiently given the extreme wording of these questions. Characterizing it as "silly" doesn't strengthen your argument.
Actually what you said was "kneejerk", which is quite derogatory. But now it's "not thinking things though sufficiently". OK. Did you read the instructions? "Some propositions are extreme, and some are moderate. That’s how we can show you whether you lean towards extremism or moderation on the Compass. Your responses should not be overthought. Some of them are intentionally vague. Their purpose is to trigger reactions in the mind, measuring feelings and prejudices rather than detailed opinions on policy." So, you basically you observed people taking the test in the way it was intended. Is there a problem with that?
Not seeing something that others see - that would be your problem, wouldn't it? Making one's own shortcomings out as if they're everyone else's problem - there's a term for that.
The only truth in the personal and baseless opinion you have espoused is what you reveal about your state of mind.
That's your opinion or some kind of labored retort on your part. The comment must have struck a nerve.
So you did manage to answer the question about globalisation? You asked whether he is a better singer or a better farmer. His job is not "singer" or "farmer", but who knows what he does in his spare time? On the other hand, I'm not sure how you compare singing and farming. I guess you're asking to compare his singing and farming skills to those of skilled singers and farmers, then to say in which case the "gap" between Rock and the experts is smaller. My answer is still: I don't know. globalisation the process by which businesses or other organizations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale. Who said it was "just" about trans-national corporations? Is it about those, but not "just" about those. But so what?
?? Why would you be surprised that explicitly insulting people - while lauding your own smarts - would garner a negative reaction? Sincere question.
Oh, another one who wants to spend all his time in the thread explaining loudly why he is isn't interested and thinks it's pointless. Is this National Contrarian Week, or something? Somebody forgot to send me the memo.
Seattle's self-aggrandizing is dragging the thread down. I've seen this behavior on the playground, and it only stops one way, so: You've seen through what flummoxed everyone else, Seattle. The test is actually a competition. Whomever gets closest to the centre, wins. You won. We all lost. Let me know when you're done stroking your ego so I can take you off the Iggy List.
You like to be in control don't you? It's not a good quiz. It doesn't tell us anything. If you want to ignore that, go ahead.
It's not just him, either. There are at least two people here whose only apparent motivation in posting to this thread is to claim that they are "better" than the political compass quiz. I guess us mere mortals are supposed to congratulate them on their sophisticated thinking, or for being "above all that" when it comes to taking quizzes like this one. Otherwise, what's the point of whining about how you don't want to take the quiz, and how much it doesn't interest you, and how stupid you think it is? Especially when you're just expressing your opinion without giving any particular critical commentary on the quiz, or even showing that you understand the questions or what the quiz is about (in Seattle's case). If this thread is so boring to these mental giants, I wonder why they don't start their own discussion threads on more interesting topics. It's like they just want to be curmudgeonly.
Why don't you describe your political leanings. Libertarian with no government involvement and everyone more or less equal regarding salary?
I found this to be a better (not perfect) test. https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/quiz/political-typology/ My results... (cut and paste) Your best fit is... Solid Liberals along with 16% of the public. BYSTANDERS CORE CONSERVATIVES COUNTRY FIRST CONSERVATIVES MARKET SKEPTIC REPUBLICANS NEW ERA ENTERPRISERS DEVOUT AND DIVERSE DISAFFECTED DEMOCRATS OPPORTUNITY DEMOCRATS SOLID LIBERALS Highly educated and politically engaged, Solid Liberals hold consistently liberal values. They back a robust role for government and are strong advocates of the social safety net. Large majorities view the current economic system as unfair and see economic inequality as a major problem. They take broadly positive views of immigrants, and fully 99% think being open to people from around the world is an essential part of the nation’s identity. Most say more needs to be done to address both racial discrimination and obstacles to women’s achievement. They support same-sex marriage and believe homosexuality should be accepted by society. Solid Liberals are the most Democratic of all typology groups: nearly two-thirds (64%) identify as Democrats, another 35% lean toward the Democratic Party.
