According to the CDC the overview mortality rates data for the USA only go to 2019 and not beyond. If this is the standard time lag then mortality rates for the USA 2020 wont be published for another year or so... https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm
what % of USA government employees voted republican ? the new administration will need to use their authority to force the real data out but will be fighting all the way fighting against those employed in the government who are ideologically opposed to doing their job which they are employed to do.
looks like india has run out of vaccines https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/4/10/mumbai-in-lockdown-as-indian-vaccines-run-short as the infections exponentially explode i am guessing most indians are getting vaccinated because they think it is free so they are happy to have something for free if its harmless but no country in the world has the factories or resources to just simply produce 1.3 billion vaccines infection rate per day in India now sitting around 175,000 will a lock down kill more people than if covid19 spreads and mutates and no one is vaccinated ? difficult if a majority of the population do not want to lock down or get vaccinated what can they do apart from start digging mass graves but most dont want their family members buried they demand they be burned how is that going to work ? https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/4/10/mumbai-in-lockdown-as-indian-vaccines-run-short Mumbai in lockdown as Indian vaccines run short Drive to vaccinate the country’s 1.3 billion people in jeopardy with just 94 million shots provided so far. 10 Apr 2021 India’s worst coronavirus-hit state of Maharashtra went into a weekend lockdown on Saturday as the country battles exploding infection numbers and vaccine shortages. It may be worth considering the situation in China. (pop: 1.4 billion 2019) Recently there has been much said in the media about the poor effectiveness (<50%) of the vaccines used in China. The problem is the false sense of security they may be propagating among the population and how this could lead to disastrous consequences in the intermediate and long term. Also applying another better (?) vaccine on top of a previously utilized one may prove problematic due to compatibility issues.
millions are expected to participate in these mass spreader events they will in turn spread it back around to tens of millions it is interesting reading a news headline by 1 media saying an Indian person is complaining they will starve to death if the lock down is put into force. i almost laughed out loud after watching all their farm equipment being driven around in circles in their capital city for months so they cant be used on the farms to produce food in the middle of a global food shortage while western celebrity's give them free gas money & free luxury food and claim to be heros of democracy and moral values. its such a mockery
So we have potential mass spreader events likely in both India (1.3B) and China (1.4B)... a total of 2.7 billion people potentially implicated. Why should we care ( apart from humanitarianism)? Because it will not be long before new variants emerge from both China and India.
It is a serious consideration as covid restrictions become less important to someone who's starving and desperate to feed his/her family. Even pre covid the situation was quite dire for many in India and any disruption to routine leads to deaths. Now with Covid in town that situation is even worse than it was before. All in all it makes for a terrible catch 22 situation, damned if you do , damned if you don't. The same but less desperate situation presents itself every where in all nations... money vs health
precisely my thoughts i have made several posts about this concept for the last year or soo. the current religious week long event which is a regular event involved tens of millions of people engaging with each other in ideal virus spreading conditions they get a few million per day at the busiest but they only have around a million or 2 at the moment because of the government trying to reduce numbers. 1 to 2.5 transmission ? inside how many days ? 2 or 3 ? maybe 5 days existing rate plus mass spreader plus recycle of new strain plus re-infection of those now who think they can only catch it once India has a very high level of normalized social urban mythology superstition like Africa but more ingrained into more modern functions
note to get an idea of how the people are functioning if you watch video of the event you will see them walking along past someone dispensing had sanitizer, whom sprays it on one hand as the person walks past like a token religious process. the person perceives their hand to be sanitized by god & man but does not sanitize the other hand or anything else. half of them its only going on a few fingers different people different values different morals in a world where greed is seen as a unifying aspect of social culture many forget just how far apart many cultures are.
I believe one of the important indicators of world status (1st, 2nd, 3rd) is the prevalence of transmittable disease. In most 3rd world nations there is a high prevalence of numerous diseases and now including Covid, what is one more? The smart but extremely poor people/families adapt to the situation that they have lived with most of their lives. Knowing full well that disease is rampant and take typical precautions to prevent it. For example boiling water before use...being careful with human waste products etc...maintaining village isolation ( Africa, Sudan etc...) Simply being informed about Covid can make a huge difference to the death toll. The Impact of Religion: I have ex-family in Brazil whom one could consider to be seriously impacted by the Sars coronavirus and as typical for the region they have altered their behaviors to protect them selves however unlike India, their religious enthusiasm (Catholic) assists them in the need for social distancing rather than the religious encouragement seen in India (Hindu) which appears to place their religious devotion at a higher priority to their collective health. I know of families in Iran for example (Islam) that share a similar situation to that of India. It is worth keeping in mind that in a nation of 1.4 billion like India we are only seeing a small percentage that are seriously ignoring the threat of the Covid. This however, doesn't lower the threat such super spreader event may have to the world. ( thinking : variants emerging)
that is quite a subjective concept in centralized systems protesting farmers spreading & incubating then re infecting their provincial markets(creating a massive network of infection & incubation) minority religious and leadership groups incubating and being central spreading vectors/hubs(we have seen this in many countrys) mob religions hindu muslim evangelical christian rely on mob interaction as a self factualising dogma no body wants to be the ones being culled in a cull but many claim the worlds population is too small those who profess to having large breeding numbers also have a low value on human life and a low value of independent thought and liberal freedoms very tightly linked subjects blood clots protein hematology protein blockers who said to keep the protein blockers ? Corona virus protein attachment basic human biological function requiring protein human consumption of protein statistical probabilities (who said save the protein blockers till last? oh yeah me) statistics note their religions appear to be male only religion by the turn out value of gender ratio more than 99% male men ignoring hygiene standards then spreading the virus to their own wifes and family who then incubate it around and around if corona virus can mutate into some type of ghastly hemorrhagic fever it will change peoples behaviors within a couple of weeks instead of a couple of years but then how would the virus survive... SAR'S CoV-2 sure is clever and strong
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-56696907 Why are so many babies dying of Covid-19 in Brazil? By Nathalia Passarinho and Luis Barrucho BBC Brazil Published 12 hours ago More than a year into the pandemic, deaths in Brazil are now at their peak. But despite the overwhelming evidence that Covid-19 rarely kills young children, in Brazil 1,300 babies have died from the virus. One doctor refused to test Jessika Ricarte's one-year-old son for Covid, saying his symptoms did not fit the profile of the virus. Two months later he died of complications from the disease. This is an extreme immune response to the virus, which can cause inflammation of vital organs. Experts say the syndrome, which affects children up to six weeks after they are infected with coronavirus, is rare, but leading epidemiologist Dr Fatima Marinho from the University of São Paolo, says that, during the pandemic, she is seeing more cases of MIS than ever before. Although it doesn't account for all deaths. Dr Manuela Monte, the paediatric doctor who treated Lucas for over a month in the ICU in Sobral, said she was surprised that Lucas's condition was so serious, because he did not have any risk factors. There is a misconception that children are at zero risk for Covid, says Dr Fatima Marinho, who is also a senior adviser to the international health NGO Vital Strategies. Marinho's research has found that a shockingly high number of children and babies have been affected by the virus. Between February 2020 and 15 March 2021, Covid-19 killed at least 852 of Brazil's children up to the age of nine, including 518 babies under one year old, according to figures from the Brazilian Ministry of Health. But Dr Marinho estimates that more than twice this number of children died of Covid. A serious problem of underreporting due to lack of Covid testing is bringing the numbers down, she says. Dr Marinho calculated the excess of deaths by unspecified acute respiratory syndrome during the pandemic, and found that there were 10 times more deaths by unexplained respiratory syndrome than in previous years. By adding these numbers, she estimates that the virus in fact killed 2,060 children under nine years old, including 1,302 babies. Marinho says that for children often the Covid diagnosis comes too late, when they are already seriously ill. "We have a serious problem detecting cases. We don't have enough tests for the general population, even fewer for children. Because there is a delay in the diagnosis, there is a delay in care for the child," she says.
wow ! india https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-56826645 India sets global record for new cases amid oxygen shortage India has reported 314,835 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours - the highest one day tally recorded anywhere in the world. Deaths rose by 2,104 in the same time period, India's worst daily toll. India is in the grip of a vicious second wave and an acute oxygen shortage is raising more fears about its overwhelmed health care system. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Crowds are gathering outside hospitals in major cities which are filled to capacity. Health services are struggling to cope. Meanwhile, authorities in the worst affected state of Maharashtra announced a series of additional restrictions starting from Thursday evening, as it battles a steep surge in cases. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
something that really struck me was a comment in the news that said Ambulances were seen circling hospitals that were full and could not drop off patients
It may be worth noting that the state of Maharashtra is considered as fairly affluent and that testing is considerably higher there, thus the significant number of cases confirmed. The real problem is the lack of testing in poorer regions. sadly it may take a disaster to force people to realise that they need to social distance properly. ( masks, no large gatherings, 1.5 meters etc) as seen in the USA where people have been slowly realizing what the cost of their pseudo freedom is. Also the various vaccines out there are proving problematic and in some cases false, as Chile is finding out...a single dose of Coronavac (by Sinovac) is reportedly demonstrating only 3% effectiveness...
This article is from the NT News issue of Thursday, 22 Apr Flights reconsidered NATIONAL cabinet will meet today to discuss a “rapidly evolving” COVID-19 outbreak in India as Howard Springs sees a record number of active cases from the subcontinent. There are currently 24 active cases at *Howard Springs*, 22 of which are returned travellers from India, which is recording 250,000 new cases daily. The spike in quarantine cases comes as the federal government looks to hand over the keys to the international quarantine program to the NT government on May 3, which is less than two weeks away. When asked if suspending repatriation flights from India would be considered in today’s national cabinet, a Morrison government spokesman told the NT News the situation was being actively monitored. “National cabinet is expected to receive further advice on the situation (on Thursday) before making any decisions,” the spokesman said. “The commonwealth government is working closely with its medical experts and states and territories to ensure the quarantine system is as safe for return travellers and staff as possible,” he said. Yesterday, NT Health Minister Natasha Fyles refused to provide an update on how many new employees out of 400 had been recruited for the takeover of the international wing at Howard Springs. “As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the figure was around 70,” Ms Fyles said. “Recruitment has gone well and I’ll be looking forward to announcing in the coming days the full plans.” Ms Fyles said the facility would continue to work with AUSMAT beyond May 3. Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro said she had “grave concerns” about transferring the facility amid growing numbers of positive cases. “The Howard Springs quarantine facility presents the greatest risk to the Northern Territory of COVID getting into our community,” Ms Finocchiaro said. “We can’t afford the Territory government to make a single mistake here. “We have got no confidence the Territory government is going to be ready to go under this single governance model by the third of May.” Australian Medical Association NT president Robert Parker said any delay in hiring recruits to staff the Howard Springs facility would result in the cancelling of international repatriation flights. “If we haven’t got the staff, we’re going to have to cut back on the expected numbers coming in,” Dr Parker said. He said national cabinet needed to consider pausing the transition of the Howard Springs quarantine camp from AUSMAT into the control of the Northern Territory government . Ms Fyles batted away criticism of the transfer, saying Ms Finocchiaro had “absolutely no credibility in this space” . Copyright © 2021 News Pty Limited *Howard Springs* About 30km from Darwin.
