Estivate - spending a prolonged period of time in a hot climate / during summer, in a dormant state (pertaining to insects, animals, amphibians)

Going to research what insects specifically are more lively during the winter months (in areas where there are four distinct seasons) as opposed to summer. I tend to see more insect activity during the spring/summer than when the temps drop.
