In this case the recently installed new radar system confirmed the existence of the objects which were also captured on FLIR cameras and seen with the naked eye. As a general rule radars in the military are highly reliable and checked out daily by technicians for any problems.

Well us (yours truly, RAAF Radio Technician - Ground for 4 years, working part of that time in Radar facility in Darwin the are highly reliable ummmmm is so so

The checked out daily part true for us Groundies. Every day something to work on. Always problems

Most times with the high voltage and heat produced by the equipment we became valve jockies

Pull out the defective valve, plug in a newbie

If only god had designed the human body same way. Would have made my life so much easier when I went back to Nursing

    Hello fellow valve jockey

Why do the systems need checking every day if they are highly reliable?

The people who do the checking need to keep in practice.

Maybe the U.S. Navy should consult Dave and James about the reliability of their radars. How have they managed so long without their armchair expertise? lol

I express no expertise except that of quoting the pilot's own words from a published video.

@ MR - why do you think there isn’t further exploration of the claims?

Honestly, this thread has probably offered the most thorough discussion (no matter what “side” you’re on) that I’ve ever read/heard. Even if it gets heated, I’ve learned a lot.

What more needs to be explored beyond what appears to be the Pentagon's thorough investigation? They have access to all the data and eyewitnesses and video. They have experts they employ who can offer their informed opinions. Who could do a better job than they?

The Pentagon hasn't come out though and suggested that the 'unidentified aerial phenomena' could be alien related. There still seems to be a general uncertainty about it, despite their thorough investigation. To me, that's somewhat encouraging though in that they aren't just shutting down the conversation, pretending to 'know it all.'

I'm glad they didn't jump to the alien conclusion. That's my position as well. We know THAT uaps/ufos exist. But as to WHAT they are, we don't know that. All the reports point to some advanced technology beyond our own, but as to who or what is behind it we just don't know. Better to admit uncertainty and remain open minded rather than assuming something there is no evidence for.

There wasn’t any “jumping,” they conducted a thorough investigation but there is still hesitancy to say the word “alien,” so they go with “uncertainty.” Why not say “it could be an alien space craft,” but we need more evidence. I like too that they’re at least going with “we’re uncertain,” as that does show they don’t think all UFO claimants are tin-foil hat wearing conspiracy theorists. Baby steps. ~ lol

    Because that would be irresponsible.

They could just as easily say "it could be ghosts", and that would be no more irresponsible.

What are they “uncertain” about, then? There are only so many options. Why is saying “could be” considered irresponsible? We’re not talking absolutes. It opens up a new kind of conversation. It’s not irresponsible to simply discuss all the possibilities.

My time ran out to edit and add:

Merely discussing the possibility of alien life and all that could mean, shouldn’t be threatening to anyone. I think irresponsible would be to introduce the idea of alien life as the leading possibility.

There's a noticeable taboo in our society in associating oneself with the "lunatic fringe" of et or alien believers. Nobody wants to look like someone who supports that possibility. So they remain one step shy of that audacious conclusion: "The uap is "unexplained". We need more data on this phenomenon."

    1. The Navy is not in the business of 'discussing'. They did their analysis and have published their findings. It's not like they're going to invite the public to a lunch meeting and lwt the pubic ask them "What makes you think they might be UFOs?"

    2. Where do we draw the line? Magic? Pixies? Angels? God?

I'm not being glib here. These are no less valid explanations than UFOs, for all the evidence we've acquired.

The Navy speculating what they "might be" becomes "Navy declares UFOs real!!"
So, it's irresponsible of them to do so.
