To be clear: it is a butane-powered device.

What is not clear is what its exact function (or functions) is/are.

Does butane have a odour? I didn't smell anything when I saw the wispy vapour

It does, but not smelling an odour won't rule it out.

As sure as it is possible to be, that is a butane setup.

I'm guessing you haven't examined a Bic lighter very closely? Any store or gas station will have them for much less than that set of tools.

Had a closer look and have a couple of corrections to make

What I thought was a bulb at the under the flip lid is more like you suggested a refill valve

The detachable small part has a bulb (glass magnifying or LED hard to determine)

Since this part of the device does not come apart any further and does not have any inlet hard to fathom how it would be serviced re both battery or bulb

Again why so much over engineered? and portable? Was there many machines to be checked at many locations?

Make a lot of lower cost checkers and leave machine its own checker

The reflector is a reflector not a mesh

Sorry a little distracted as going 4 weeks holiday Bali soon and lot of preparation to do

PS The tool kit I bought to take the item apart was $12. Was going to take to Bali but remembered I won't be bringing any checked luggage back

Everything will be left behind. Taking over one all new outfit will change into just before going to return flight

Bio security because of Foot and Mouth disease

Humans top of the heap when viruses and bacterium can mess us about like this? I think not

    New drink on market here

    Vodka and coffee

If you know you get drunk on vodka coffee will keep you awake so you remember not to drink so much

In the states, many people like Redbull and vodka. Similar idea.

I have no information either way

I want to take this sample bottle home to Darwin but have slight problem, fixable which will cost a small amount

I did not book any return flight check in luggage. I will do 10 kg on line and use my cabin baggage as check in

Just need to find light weight clothing to pack the bottle in

Or you could just buy a bottle of vodka and a can of Red Bull when you get home...

Ummmmm this sample bottle has some attachment for me

GF Number 3 sells the product to the various night clubs and bars

Hence your practical suggestion does not feature

Also I don't intend to drink the sample

Will sit with other aids to my memories

I heard a commercial for a coffee drink that has "espresso-infused foam". I thought that was over-kill.

if in a pinch you can just put it in a string bag & carry it on like a pet rock
tell them its your therapy pet bottle for calming your nerves to stop your projectile vomiting explosive diarrhea which you get when traveling on planes
