    Alloys are heterogeneous by definition.
    Chemical reactions occur because of quantum interactions. The reason you can do simple high school chemistry is that at a macro level, all those quantum interactions average out.

    I wonder if a boiler with the flames inside filled with a water alcohol mist, how efficient it would be at absorbing all the heat. Not so much like a combustible engine because you wouldn't want the working fluid to burn.
