    Both (spam and scam) are used to define negative messages. What exactly is the differrence?

    No.

    A scam is a deliberate, dishonest attempt to defraud.

    Spam is merely bulk mail blast or similar form of mass advertizing. There is no intrinsic attempt to defraud.
