Get Thor and shoot him. As I distictly remember he's the evil botmaster who I wanted to linch some time ago (for no apparent evidence or whatsoever).
Always find a victim, shoot him and make the populace happy. /sneers

I was going to suggest giving sciforums a present by breaking the record. Oh well. Looks like it's already happened.

Can anyone explain (in more detail) about what may be going on? What are bots?

Well, bots are little programms that scan websites for various information, for example the google advertisements on this site are appropriate for keywords picked up from the posts.

Those bots can also be used to gather email addresses or ICQ numbers and whatnot. This information would be used to spam the owners of those addresses.

But that is only a possibility. (not a very unlikely one, some days ago, spam mails started to appear on my Gmail account, and there are only three places where this email address can be read.)

I'll tell you all how I found this forum. I was trying to fix my Yahoo account and typed in something like "yahoo help" on google, and sciforums came up. And I've been here ever since....for 2 whole weeks or so.... :)

I think I found SciForums by serching on google for something about space. Since I was only on Dal-up then, I save the page. If only my PC hadn't been formatted a few months back (I lost all the photos of my hamsters...*sob*), then I'd be able to find that page and see what brought me here. I didn't register for a while though.

I was reasearching genetics or evolution on hotbot i think. Then i got a page on the evolution of religions, which had me curious. It went from there.

I really can't remember, it was about two years ago, and then I stopped posting for a while, mainly due to having only a dialup connection at home.
