View Full Version : left vs. right hand Pine_net 11-13-02, 01:20 PM A simple poll; left or right handed? Or are you both right and left? *stRgrL* 11-13-02, 02:40 PM Right Joeman 11-13-02, 02:52 PM I am both. I can write and throw with both hands equally bad. (I am a soccer player so I am not very good with hands) But if you define handiness as the hand you use to beat yourself off, I am left. :D %BlueSoulRobot% 11-13-02, 05:50 PM I'm guessing both, because I can write with my left hand with the same speed as my right, but not as neatly. I can use chopsticks as a leftie, and play guitar really really slowly, or pitch baseballs with some degree of accuracy. :D I can draw a circle with one hand, and a square with the other on a chalkboard. They say only ambidextrous people can do it. :) NenarTronian 11-13-02, 05:57 PM Totally RIGHT. My left hand is..actually quite useless. I'm not an invalid or anything. The left hand just sits while rightie works away. Leftie can type though. :D Wasnt there some research into left vs brain people concerning their genetics or something? Halo 11-13-02, 05:57 PM I'm right handed and can write upside down  %BlueSoulRobot% 11-13-02, 06:06 PM Wasnt there some research into left vs brain people concerning their genetics or something? Left versus the brain?! I didn't know the situation was that tough. :D I'm right handed and can write upside down  I can write upside down too. :p Upside down, backwards, and in French! :D Adam 11-13-02, 07:52 PM I voted right as it tends to be my favoured hand. But the thing is, I can barely write with either left or right hand. Totally dyslexic and that attention span problem and all. Can't write, can't do maths, slow reader. When I write, I have to print in big messy block letters. I can play pool with either hand, or cricket. yumyum 11-13-02, 08:00 PM right but some times i use the left to wright when im bored but you cant read it very well. lixluke 11-14-02, 02:41 AM 2 ambis? i voted right cos im right handed my aunt and my friend r ambis. my aunt was born lef handed, but my grandparents tried 2 beat som sense into her, andmade her write with her right hand. now she can do everything with both. i wish i had those powers. its weird having a hand that cant do as many things as the other. Adriatic 11-14-02, 08:35 AM I was born lefthanded, but they force me to write with the right hand (it was long ago) and now I'm kind of ambidexter. ;) %BlueSoulRobot% 11-14-02, 08:56 AM Hey Adriatic! First off, Welcome to SciForums. :) Secondly, what country do you live in, that they have to force you to use your right hand? Because I remember that in Hong Kong, if you were left-handed they forced you into using your right hand, because it was necessary to write the right strokes in the right order. Walker 11-14-02, 03:38 PM Right hand wins! Asguard 11-14-02, 03:57 PM i would give my right hand to be ambdextres:p %BlueSoulRobot% 11-14-02, 09:55 PM I see no lefties! I thought there'd be a whole tonne here. :bugeye: Gifted 11-15-02, 06:08 AM I'm a leftie, and lefties are the only people in their right minds.:D I write with my lift hand, but shoot(both rifles and archery) right-handed. Strangly, My left eye is dominant. Pine_net 11-15-02, 07:33 AM Since this post has started I have been practicing routine hand movement with my left hand instead of my right. At first I just wanted to give up, but I kept at it and at the very least had a pencil and paper near my left hand to remind me to practice. Mostly I just doodled. Now here comes the strange part, I've been doing this for a few days now and I'm rather shocked at how my doodles are turning out. Don’t get me wrong, they still seem to have a certain suckage quality about them, but I think they are a hell of a lot better than what my right hand can do. I'm going to scan what I've done and encourage others to try this for a few days and post what your experiences have been. It doesn't necessarily have to be a doodle; it could be anything you have tried with your left, or in gifteds’ case right, hand. In the words of sponge bob square pants, IT'S OPOSITES DAY! I'll post what I have in a bit... Joeman 11-15-02, 12:25 PM Originally posted by %BlueSoulRobot% I see no lefties! The out come was that I was ambidexterious. Scoring precisely the same for both hands. While I write right-handed in a pinch I can do so with the left hand. Most other things, it matters not which hand does the job. Thanks!;) As I had written it was very long ago in Yugoslavia, now Croatia. Our sea is called Adriatic. ;) :) Inka 11-19-02, 09:39 AM Was born left handed but as its obviously a sign of the Devil - was forced to write with right hand!! Also wierd but true .. ...Paint with left ... Draw with right %BlueSoulRobot% 11-19-02, 07:31 PM Originally posted by Adriatic Thanks!;) As I had written it was very long ago in Yugoslavia, now Croatia.
