Ok, so I have only played the game on the 360 for around 2 hours, so I can't give you a full rating, but I would say from what I saw and the style of games I like, it would be around an 18 out of 20.

This game will blow the first morrowind out of the water. The gameplay is smooth. The screen loads are so smooth. (Remember morrowind on the xbox. Screen loads froze a lot. Not in this game)
The xbox 360 controller is weird at first, but once you get used to the hotkeyed buttons and what not, it is very nice. Visually, I expected more, but that isn't to say that it wasn't awesome. Very pretty scenery.
Character customization- You'll spend an hour customizing the look of your character and then be like, you know what, I'll just hit this random button until I find a look I like. They have customization for like every part of the face. Forehead, ears, nose, chin, jaw, mouth, ect... you get the point.
Battlesystem is similar to the first game.
The guards and everyone in the game seem to scale to your level. I was an hour in the game and killing guards or patrols. In that respect, it is nice also.
After killing and looting everyone in sight, I rested and awoke to a spirit hovering over me that asked me to join the "dark side" pretty much went into an explanation on how their order kill for fun and loot for fun and blah blah and asked to join. I said heck ya and he said to prove my allegience I had to go kill some random person. Not sure if this is the assassin guild or another, but it was pretty cool.
When you kill a person, you can pretty much loot anything he is carrying (weapons, shields) and loot his corpse(gold clothes, ect..) What else do you want to know?

how is the ai? i mean...in morrowind, if you could climb onto a building by a back stairway, the guards you were shooting with arrows on the ground in front of the building would never think to look for a way up to where you were....they would just repeatedly insult you and run into the closest wall to where you were.

im sure the ai has improved, but to what degree?

The guards in this game pull out their bows and shoot back at you. The AI has improved, but I haven't been involved enough to see if their are any AI glitches or anything fickle about it. So far so good in my opinion.

Another cool aspect is that while in the forest walking around, this robin hood looking ranger came out of nowhere and ran past me and had his bow drawn. He was hunting deer in the woods and fields. That was a pretty cool thing. So I shot him in the back and killed him and took his ranger clothes.

I haven't even bought it yet(my computer isn't up to par just yet), but everything I've seen of it has me addicted already. I'm a huge fan of morrowind, and oblivion was supposed to take morrowind's weaknesses and make them strengths, and make everything else stronger...so yeah, I can wait til I get the cash to upgrade my pc to the recommended specs...

Do you guys know if it is true that you can use the xbox 360 controller on the pc version of oblivion (not the wireless, but the wired USB controller) This would give the PC gamers a good comfort level also of the controller style of which I heard is better than the keyboard.

Hmm... Keyboard/mouse affords far more presicion and speed. I've played the xbox and PC veriosn of Morrowind to death, and the PC version is much easier to manipulate - especially with regard to menus.

On the other hand, Xbox 360 users do not have to worry about system requirements!

In my opinion, if the controller can be plugged into a PC (like the original ones could) it'd probably be best for racing / platform games rather than FPS.

Its requirement is tough. My PC is P4 3GHz 1GB X800XT and it can only run at 1024x768 with no AA.

I've forgotten what the sun looks like.

Yeah, the PC version will eat your computer for lunch. I bought a new computer last year and its already pretty much outdated by these new games.

    A: This game sucks!
    B: Why?
A: It should have an alarm clock that I can set so I know I should really go to bed or else....
    B: Or else what?
    A: Exactly!

Just think of it like this...It takes up less time than World of Warcraft and is a lot more fulfilling.

I'll rate it when I get it. Still trying to finish Morrowind (or at least the main quest and the expansions).

Here are some good reasons to get Oblivion (link to Wikipedia entry):

    1) Real forests to explore... on horseback
    2) Voices of Patrick Steward and Sean Bean
    3) Havok physics (like Half Life 2)
    4) Radiant AI

    Can't wait...
